I just looked up the FSM and it seems straightforward. Any tricks needed for the install?

No it takes longer to get your exhaust out of the way than to change out the shaft. Remove the 4 bolts from the diff and it slides right out when you drop it down.

Thanks! I should get mine Wednesday or Thursday and install that same day! I know Meatbag has a CF one for his monster so I'm curious how the AL one will hold up to my build.

Dyno is today at 4. If I gain at least 5 HP/tq I'm happy. I feel the difference driving around without the dyno. The car feels like I'm riding around at my race weight 24/7. Which is with my spare and tools removed at the track.

^ That's great. Would you say the difference in feeling is similar to shorter gears?

Oh and, still no vibrations? That would be the biggest issue for me since it's my daily driver.

Just installed mine this morning. Hardest part was dropping the exhaust. Driveshaft was easy.

Butt dynos are notoriously inaccurate, and I always laugh when people say they felt 5 hp or something like that, but I think it felt lighter and faster.

Couple of 20-90 runs on the freeway felt faster, and there were no vibrations. I'll report back in a couple of weeks if I feel any vibrations.

I have the same observations about being feeling lighter and faster. I doubt if you will feel any vibrations I've taken mine up to 130 no vibrations at all.

Most people want to see if there are gains as seen by Gzilla and the TT G35 of 15+hp. Granted the shaft they have is CF, but the Z1 is almost the same weight.

The good thing is I'm doing my after dyno on the same dyno as Gzilla and the TT G.

No one has done a dyno on a N/A car yet with the lighter shaft.

Yes and if you have gears you will feel them more. I have the 3.7FD also and yes no vibrations up to 130.

I think I bought the last auto DS in stock last week. I had my girlfriend drive during a trip on saturday and she noticed it.

Didn't take much pedal effort to get to 70-80 and didn't feel like she was going that fast meaning it smoothly got to that speed.

Cool, thanks. I also have 3.7 FD gears and it was one of my favorite mods. Gonna place my order.

Since you have a transgo also you will chirp the 2-3 shift more often at WOT.

Which vortech do you have V2 or V3? I plan on going vortech in the fall I miss FI. I used to be turbo when I lived in Socal.

Great result and thanks for posting. There is no doubt with that much weight savings on rotational mass will reduce the power loss.

I've done a few dyno test relating to the effect of reducing rotational weight
-going to two piece rotors increase power by 1.3whp/8.1wtq weight savings of 4.5lbs per rear
-going to 20" wheels from oe 18" wheels increase power by 8.8whp/12.3wtq weight savings of 6lbs per rear

Though mass unit is constant, it's weight relative to the center of rotation is very important on how it impacts power.

Haha, nice.

I have the V3 running 9lbs of boost with the 2.87 pulley.

My G is JWT TT'ed at 10 lbs of boost, so while not as much as GZilla, not too shabby.

Anyways, I'm pleased with the mod.

Here is the after dyno. The car was pinging up top on the dyno so I had it retuned also since I had my exhaust and headers changed out since the before run.

Headers and exhaust would not cause a TQ jump as shown

My results are similar to this mustang with a alum driveshaft.
