Flywheel "Hot Spots"???
can someone please explain what "hot spots" look like on an OEM (or any) flywheel? also, what is glazing?
i may be purchasing a lightly used flywheel from a friend. after inspection i see there are 3 small (~1.5" long, ~.5" wide, 120 degrees apart - equal spacing) spots on the flywheel that are somewhat smoother & shinier than the rest of the surface. the wear surface has small grooves, expect for these 3 spots that are located closer to the inside of the contact area. these are not high spots, and they are not discoloured.
everything else looks fine. looking at the grooved surface on the outside of the wear area, the flywheel shows almost no wear. i assume the flywheel metal wears similar to a brake rotor.
i know this is probably a difficult question to answer. i hope i have explained it well enough...
