Manual mode and D mode differences?

Re: Manual mode and D mode differences?
ChicagoX makes some very good points.
I'd just add that I believe my slower times in MM are a result of my reflexes, my inability to shift at the exact proper time, and the fact that the tach is unreliable approaching redline due to "velocity blah blah" (a term I remember Q45Tech using in another post).
At stock, the auto shifts, I believe, at the optimal time by itself. When modifications are made, the HP/TQ curves have changed and by having more power here or there, the optimal shift points have changed, thus the TS reflash may be beneficial by allowing the driver to shift at the optimal time, whereas before the mods I'm not so sure increasing the shift point to a higher RPM is beneficial at all.
This can easily be calculated using the following, if the data required to calculate is known, and it can be after the mods if the new peaks are known....which if properly dynoed can be known.

Re: Manual mode and D mode differences?
PM gord (Gordon Gee) gordgee for a set of hypergrounding
wires. You will want all 10 of them. Wire #7 is a bit&h to
install, the rest are fairly easy.
03 5AT Sedan, sunroof, splashguards, HKS muffler,
14 wire Grounding kit, Z Duct, Stillen HF/AB
Underbody rear diffusers, Drilled alum pedals,
Stillen sway bars H/H

Re: Manual mode and D mode differences?
While some responses speak to you needing to reset the ecu every hour...just try it once and it will last about 2 weeks or possibly much more depending on how you drive. The TCU is not reacting as quickly as some would suggest the UCU adapts. The ECU adaptability has not yet been argues convincingly either way so we dont really know what's up there with all the opposing facts. The TCU does take weeks to adapt to slower driving habits and it takes much much more than an hour to go from fast shifts to slow ones. I reset every 45 days or so...I think people are confusing the reset of the ecu with the resetting of the TCU when referring to transmission issues...

Re: Manual mode and D mode differences?
PS cant edit "UCU" above to be "ECU"
Also , while the TCU is adaptive, the algorythm supposedly is for long term adaptablity meaning that an hour makes a difference perhaps, but really not much worth mentioning from my experience. I dont notice any changes until at least 2 weeks after resetting.

Re: Manual mode and D mode differences?
You are, by default, resetting the TCU when you reset the ECU. It can all be reset using the pedal method or the 12 hour method.
