Letting foot off of gas pedal

After I pick up the Transgo kit in the next couple weeks I plan to do an experiement to see if I can gain 28 extra miles per tank shifting under 2500RPM.
Okay this is how I shift now....
1st gear .......2800-3k
2nd............3200
3rd...........3300ish
then let the car shift down to 1st on it's own. I don't do 3-2-1 bc it used to clunk plus the auto trans knows the right moment to shift back to first on it's own anyway.
If I want to pass Ill pick the right moment to hop into 2nd from 3rd of course and let er rip. Usually I get about 19MPG city and see about 23-24MPG on the highway.
My Berk HFCs and Fast Intentions CB exhaust make it damn near impossible for me to try to drive/shift softer lol
They make such good music that I tend to drive like this all the time.

after my car was at nissan for 2 and a half months getting a new motor I was driving a 5MT corolla.. Once I got my car back I kept on letting my foot off the gas when shifting in manual mode.. I guess it was a habbit from driving the rolla.
My friend noticed I was doing this and he called me a ricer for trying to sound like a manual.. Didn't even realize till he pointed it out so I stopped doing it... Don't want to be a poser lol.

When normal driving it depends on acceleration rate and RPMs to figure out what makes the car shift the smoothest... usually this is keeping some throttle while shifting. This is still an auto and the ECU sorts everything out for you while the mechanical action of the transmission takes place.
Never ever take your foot off while WOT. I think that would cause more strain on the trans then not... it's meant to have the pedal to the floor and shifting...
You don't take your foot off while driving in 'D' do you? So don't in MM.
Tell me about it superchargedg... the other day I was messing around with guy in a Mini and he said, "Man, it sure is good to hear an automatic import chirp 2nd..." I grinned and said... "Dude... that was 3rd."

interesting... I wonder why the owners manual would bother to state how the ECU works... you should scan and post ~
I've never heard of that happening and haven't felt any indication in the slightest that it happens on my car... on the track, street or even when shifting to third on dyno (when it seems something like that would be very apparent)...
