Clutch Max Ebay Stage 2 Kit Install w/Flywheel

Hi everyone,

This is my first thread on this forum. I've looked extensively for a solution to this problem. The are a whole range of solutions to this problem, but none describing my problem in its entirety.
Over Thanksgiving, I bought a ClutchMax Stage 2 Kit with Flywheel (Single Mass 17.5 lbs roughly) off Ebay. I dropped the transmission and installed the new flywheel, clutch, and pressure plate. When I was installing the flywheel, I made sure to align it on the dowel pin correctly the first time. I bolted everything back together. It took 5-12 seconds of cranking for the car to finally start. The engine idles very smoothly, but the tachometer skips and flutters at 4,000 rpm and the ECU is throwing the P0335 Code. I replaced the CPS and it still throws the code. I installed the flywheel correctly the first time, but it still has the CPS code problem. Is there any solution to fixing this without me dropping the transmission again?

I did some testing yesterday and unplugged the CPS from the wiring harness connector and the engine still starts and runs off the camshaft position sensors. If the flywheel wasn't aligned correctly, the engine wouldn't start at all.

The car is driveable. I am bringing it to an Infiniti dealership in Rhode Island to diagnose why it is throwing the code. I've seen answers from shimming the CPS to have the sensor head further from the flywheel, to the flywheel being to close to the crank vs. the OEM Dual Mass Flywheel (Flywheel thickness), to the Flywheel being pushed in a 1/16th of an inch closer to the crankshaft with the clutch engaged which caused a misreading from the CPS, and the timing slits/grooves on the flywheel that the CPS reads off the flywheel being in the incorrect places.

Thanks in advance.

You want to replace the CRANKSHAFT sensor, it's at the bottom of the flywheel and you had to unbolt it to remove the transmission, not the camshaft sensors.

Make sure you don't have some accidental wire damage on the sensor harness from that tranny swap.

Also, these engines don't play nice with aftermarket sensors, gotta use a Genuine Nissan OEM or Hitachi sensor, Hitachi was the OEM manufacturer for the part.

It's also possible that the flywheel you purchased had an incorrectly made pickup plate.

My bad for saying CPS. I did change the Crankshaft Sensor, still throws P0335 Code. Being a cheap Ebay flywheel, I think you're right with the pickup plate. Will get the OEM one checked out and if its bad, will get a Z1 motorsports flywheel instead.

Before tearing it apart I would inspect the CKP and it's harness for any damage including a bent pin.

Ok will do. I will also get a different Crank Position Sensor to see if the new replacement was defective.
