Bring back a old post, just changed mine on the weekend thanks for all the updates through out the post. Leasons learned from me was that these belts need to be tight. I ended up using the belt gauge from work, couldn't belive how thight it had to be. Too loose and I ended up draining the battery. All seems to be good now.

Awesome write up, you helped another enthusiast!

I have a K2 front, I discovered I need to tweak the forward most mounting holes because 2 of them do not line up. I'll just make some holes and get some stainless bolts.

I hear a whistling that kind reminds me of a turbo when i accelerate but it disappears after the engine gears up. usually only in first or second gear. I have never done my belts and so this the first solution i can think of trying. Im assuming it won't be much different on my 04 Sedan AT. Thanks for the pic and step by step process. did my front pads and rotors from a thread and video last week. Luvin this ride!

Hey all, this DIY is going to be uber helpful this weekend for me. I turned a corner today in the rain and tried throwing her sideways...heard a really loud POP and coincidentally my A/C stopped blowing cold air out. Checked under the hood and it looks like the A/C belt busted off because there isn't one there anymore.

Do I have to remove the main belt in order to put a new A/C belt in? And could a simple thing as a high engine rev actually bust this belt off in such a manner? It seems to me that there may be something else wrong that is the culprit....

Ya you gotta remove your main belt first before accessing the AC belt. I actually just did mine last weekend. Super easy. Double check that the tensioner for either belt is not busted (happened to a buddy of mine). That would cause your AC belt to snap immediately.

So I'm a pretty big noob and don't know a whole ton about cars. My car has almost 70K miles on it and I'm getting some belt squealing. I came across both of these on Advance Auto Parts. Seem like really good quality with a good price.

AAP doesnt do a very good job of describing their items online. Which are these for? I assume the first link is the alternator belt. Which belt is the second link for?

Also, how many belts require changing on our cars? I'd like to just get them all done and not have to worry about them again for a while.

Thanks!!!

You should need to replace your alternator/drive belt and your AC belt. Looks like that's what the two links are for, width being a major difference between the two, along with length of course. Both are super easy to change from under your car, which is what?

Thanks for the help!

I have an 06 G35X. I don't don't have one of those devices that measures the tension of the belts or anything so I was thinking about getting my mechanic to replace them for me. How much does that normally cost?

I guess if it's super easy I could attempt it myself. I mean I do my own oil, ATF and power steering changes.

you will end up with a bill over $200. I used no tension device. Just did them tight with less than .5cm movement (flex) on either belt. There is a great thread with pics that describe the process perfectly. I'll see
