"Unichips for dummies"

Ok, I understand the purpose of ECU piggyback systems. However, I'm curious to see how people (tuners) know what to enter into the Unichip.

In other words, how do they now what the settings should be with all of my current mods?

Does this make sense?

you have to be smarter than the car’s computer - which I am not... so I don't have a clue

I read some of the threads but haven’t been convinced that there is a benefit for me in terms of performance... however it does seem to be a good tool as a hobby to tweak things around a bit.

I suppose hard-core tuners have a true need - but if you were one of them you probably would not have posed the question... Anyway sorry I don't have an answer - just wanted to give my thoughts and bump the thread to keep abreast of informative responses.
