I am pretty shore you can go 5-7K on a M1 filter. That is the hole pont of buying this filter. I belive the filter eliment is different so it is less likely to break apart & it also has a bypass so you always have proper flow.

 

Well Mobil 1 never traditionally touted their oil to last for any extended period of time so I don't know why we are to think their filter is able to. Also most filters have bypass valves. But if you bypass, you also are circulating unfiltered oil now. Better than no oil? yes but still not a great idea.

 

5-7k is not an extended drain interval, normal filters can handle that. 12-25k is, which I seriously doubt the m1 can do. Only the Amsoil EA oil filters guarantee a 12k service interval, and even then I would be weary of using a filter for that long. BTW ALL oil filters have a bypass valve, so the m1 isn't special.

Moble 1 will last 5-7K mi. & will provide good protection once you go over the 3K mark. This is because it does not break down as fast as conventional oils. You basically get better protection for a longer period of time with synthetics. The OIL filter also provided good protection even after 3K. 5-7Kmi. may not be considered extended drain intervals these days; However the hole point of Moble-1 is to provided that extra protection ESPECIALLY when you go pass the 3K mi. mark.

 

Conventional oils can go 5-7k nowadays, mobil1 isn't pushing the limits any more than other synthetic oils out there which can withstand much longer drain intervals.

I used to change the oil in my company truck every three thousand miles. The guys at the OC place would always say, "this stuff looks new, you don't need to change it". 95% of my miles were highway.
