ECU Reset After Technosquare?
ECU Reset After Technosquare?
I am contemplating the Tecnosquare ECU flash to take advantage of my mods (Stillen Air Box and Z-tube) I was wondering if after I have the ECU flashed, will I periodically have to do a reset on my ECU as I have to do now or will the flash take care of it permanently?
Re: ECU Reset After Technosquare?
you will NEVER HAVE TO DO IT AGAIN IN YOUR LIFE EVER EVER EVER EVER...
In fact i kind of proved it to myself..kind of... About 3 months after getting my ECU (i was the test sedan for it) i dynoed my car. A few times before this dyno, the last time being about a month before the dyno, i reset the ECU to see if i felt any gain... nada!. So on the dyno day, i thought I will check this number objectively... After 2 runs on the dyno, I jumped in the car and did the quick ECU reset and we did another run....lost 3 hp. This means basically unchanged (within the error margin) This goes to show that the ECU no longer needs reset. Now it is possible that the reset didn't do anything because I drive the car like I mean it and the ecu has learned my style, which leads it into a more aggressive setup than "stock" (I never let it regress). I kind of think the former is true or some combination of the two. But I know for a fact that the regression has been addressed by TS and I believ them

Re: ECU Reset After Technosquare?
mstil35,
While working on my fan replacement project I managed to bring in the service engine soon (hint - you're supposed to re-connect the MAF plug before starting the car). To clear it I did a my first 24 hour reset since getting the TS upgrade. Unlike the pre-TS resets, there was no perceivable change.

Re: ECU Reset After Technosquare?
Can we claify this here. To those who installed the TS ECU did you do a complete RESET right after the installation as per the procedures from the TS website?

SilverBullitG,
I didn't because Danny reset my ECU for me right after he installed the TS program. I was surprised because there was a "first trip" code left from ?? Danny confirmed that a full reset should be done after the upgrade.

Re: ECU Reset After Technosquare?
Well, I finally received an email back from Danny at Technosquare. He says that you do not have to "reset" the ECU when you get it back from them. The ECU will "reset" itself 10-12 hours after being unplugged. In other words, it "resets" itself during the transit back to you after Technosqaure does the re-flash. Just re-install and you are done.

Re: ECU Reset After Technosquare?
Yeah, clearly if you're one of those unlucky bastards (like myself) that live far away from Technosquare then resetting the ECU yourself is a non-issue.

Re: ECU Reset After Technosquare?
I did not realize the ECU reset itself after 10-12 hours after being unplugged. I got mine back yesterday and followed the quick resetting procedure. It took me a couple tries but I did get the engine light to go off. Next step, Dyno.
