ecu reset

hey, ive seen a few threads about resetting your ECU. why/when would you want to reset your ECU. i bought a used g35 recently and i was wondering if i needed to reset it. thanks.

short answer: when you do mods. go ahead and reset it if you want, but it will self adjust with your driving style.

i also heard that by disconnecting the batter for a matter of 12 hours it will reset itself. so if u wanna go ahead and do that, then go for it.

You don't need to disconnect the batterY for 12hrs. If you read the ECU reset thread by one of the Admins it says to disconnect both terminals and touch them together (or something to that regard) (please read it).

Hmmm...I was told to just disconnect the negative terminal, press the brake pedal 3 times and then reconnect.

If you follow the directions in the DIY forum you won't have to worry about any of the stuff on that link that was posted to the technosquare page.

Ahhhh ok, that was something I read in another thread. I didn't know there was an actual "ecu reset thread". I'll make sure to take a look at it, thanks
