^its a pretty simple concept. an engine cover is meant to cover up the ugly aspects of an engine and wiring

but what ugly wiring is the G35/350Z cover really covering that are so bad?

All along I thought the function was to add weight and help trap heat in the engine bay

mainly just the main harness. i don't think many people have engine covers for performance.

I think there was a thread about this a long time ago and people found that having the engine cover on doesn't make any significant difference in heat dispersal or the lack thereof.

I run a SSV with DC headers and HKS dualie behind it, no complaints here

My wild guess would be going from stock to the SSV gains/loses power from the exhaust build you have. I dont know THAT much about this stuff but wouldnt it be a backpressure issue if youre LOSING power?
