Car starting problem

I've searched a bit for the answer on these forums but didn't really find anything. Sorry if this has been asked before.

I left my car for about 2 weeks, with only driving it once around the block. Then yesterday I went to start it and all it would do is make a clicking sound with the interior lights flashing. No motor crank at all.

I had the battery tested and it's fine.

I'm thinking it's starter solenoid. But could be starter motor. Any ideas? And i've looked on ebay and seen quite a few of them which appear cheaper than the $500 + tax the dealer wants for the starter assy.

try to jumpstart, battery could be good but too weak to turn. if still just clicking, then its starter.

gyal8r: if it turns mite be injectors or fuel pump, doubt all ur sparkplugs went bad at the same time

starting issue

The first thing you got to figure out is it electrical or mecahnical? A starter being completely fried the the most unlikely scenario just because of the way they are built. They help the mechanical turn over of the engine, thats why you hear a weird noise when you go to start your car when you have it started already by accident obviously if you have ever done it. Its the teeth from the starter engaging the flywheel when the engine is running. The problem that you sound like you have is either the battery because of age or something is draining the battery. There is an accesory that is staying on that you dont know about. 9/10 if you have the jump the car to start it everytime its the battery, once thing to do if you dont have a lot of tools grab a DMM digital multi meter check the charging voltage of the alternator. By going from the ground on the battery to the power side on the alternator. That will help tell you if the battery is being sufficiently charged, based on the voltate. 12.8-14.25 is roughlt what you want it to be. Let me know if this helps.

my wife is having the same problem with her '03 sedan. if she doesn't drive her car every other day at least the battery won't have enough charge to power the starter. the alternator and battery check out good. i don't know why but my wife got a new battery even though we knew the old one was good. anyways, i'm thinking that either something is draining the charge while the car is off or something is drawing excessive amperage while the car is running and therefore draining the battery to the point where it can't effectively hold a charge. anyways, if anyone has had the same problem and knows what may be wrong please help, thanks.

Something has got to be draining it while its off, very unlikely the other way around. Let me know what you find though.

it's not the battery because it was checked good twice and my wife got a new one and soon thereafter was having the same problem. i'm not very familiar with these vehicles charging systems so i was wondering if anyone knew where there would be a good manual for this car. i looked for a chiltons or haynes a while back but couldn't find one.

Okay,

After doing some extensive research online this is what I have been able to compile. There is a device in Nissan/Infiniti vehicles called an IPDM
Intelligent Power Distribution Module, I would suggest going to your local Infiniti dealer and say that you have found some info about the IPDM and that you believe it needs to be extensivley looked at. Because I have found a lot of techs are saying that the IPDM is going back to where it drains the battery, or its not working properly so its not allowing the car to start. I would go into detail how it works but there really isnt a reason. Althought there is one Infiniti tech on here I forgot his sn but I have spoke with him great guy, maybe he needs to jump on here if he has had any similar issues!

Isn't the IPDM the big brick with fuses attached to the positive oem cable?

BASE ACURA TLX NOW WANT A G35 AGAIN THOUGH
Update:

Ok - After changing the battery and clutch last week, I parked my car at work on Thursday night and picked it up Monday afternoon. Car turn'd over without a hitch. After a few stops, the car is starting nomally now * Crossing Fingers * nothing else goes wrong.

I need to do the 90k Service coming up.

Should I let "Infiniti Dealer" do the 90k or let a "Private Mechanic" install it..?
Friend of mine has a shop in SF he installed my clutch last week for about $800.00 - Battery and Oil Change was another $150.00...UGH....

Anyone else have issues with "starting" after replacing battery or clutch..?
