Check this before your powertrain warranty is up!

Chit. Almost wished I didn't find this thread, but glad I did. Just got an 05 FX35 for my wife 3weeks ago with 37k and picked up an 05 Sedan 5MT yesterday and it turned 60k as i drove it back home from texas. I'll check both on saturday and if I see any oil, I'll take a day off work to go down to the infiniti dealer (85miles away) to get it done. Just to re-affirm: the powertrain warranties are for 6 years, 72,000 miles on both vehicles?

So I have the Infiniti Pre Certified 100k warranty.
For engine it says it covers. Cylinder heads, block and all internal parts, rocker covers and oil pan, valve train and front cover, Timing chain and tensioner, oil pump, water pump and fuel pump, fuel injectors, intake and exhaust manifolds, flywheel, seals and gaskets.
I not exactly sure what this is listed under but is this problem covered under my warranty? I will take it in some time when I hit 60k.
Thanks

I'm not going to go that route either, but do you happen to have a link? I'm curious how that would work out over time, I'd be concerned it would not last long under the heat. I'd also hate to have to keep pulling plugs to keep checking on it.

synthetic oil a problem?
I bought a 2003 with 82k mi a couple of months ago. At 84k I switched it over to mobil one. At 85k I changed the plugs and found oil in two of the tubes (closest to driver and passenger). 500 miles later I have an oil leak under car and upon inspection appears to be leaking from the actual valve cover gasket on the drivers side. I was wondering if swithing over to synthetic oil at this milage may have contributed to the problem. Any thoughts?

thank you g35driver.com! i just checked my spark plug tubes and two of them were dripping with oil. it looks like i'll be paying another visit to my local dealer for some more warranty work! that's the only time they see me.
does anyone know if the spark plugs are replaced under warranty along with the covers etc?

Just came across the oil leak problem. I did not read all the pages in this thread. I know a thing or two about cars. Normally this is a simple tightening or replace the gasket. Why is it necessary to replace the whole valve cover? And why is the valve cover so expensive?

Hi all,
I am from Australia and am new to this forum. I have a 2001 Nissan Skyline V35 250GT which is a 2.5 litre version of your G35 sedan.
I was searching these forums and found this problem, so I had my spark plugs changed and I had oil pooling in mine too. I had the problem fixed, but was able to find the parts for the V35 to only replace the rocker cover valve seals and not the whole piece. Don't know if it might help any of you that are out of warranty, but maybe have a look around, you might get out of it a bit cheaper.
