Mike, you must not be very busy today. That's about all that can be concluded.

Technically, a direct link to shop air and a fitting would have been the correct answer but then again, you hacked up my question. Congrats? Let it be and let the man post his findings (and hopefully pictures). As someone that might actually do this, I'm interested. If you just want to interject your nonsense for pride's sake, don't bother. Really, don't.

If that's in your plans, then I'd order the stronger valve springs from JWT and you'd get a free rental of that nifty spring tool.

BTW, congrats on being one of the very few that dives this deep into a VQ35.
I don't know to offer condolences are congratulations. But I hope he chimes in with some real info for all of us DIYers to benefit.

In general I agree about the replacement of one spring. Considering how rare this is and since the manual doesn't say to replace all at one time, I'd tend towards just the one. But a call to a Nissan tech wouldn't hurt (if you can find a honest one!)

the answer was in the link Jeff... I even asked if you read it. It was all there in one tidy little post.

As for busy - yes, and I really should know better than to waste this amount of time with you.

Obviously you aren’t busy or you would have stopped 2 pages ago when I gave you the answer that was too difficult for you to understand.

that link wasn’t even as direct as the one I gave you... I linked you to the tool and on the page was all the info you needed to answer all the questions you had - including a link to a pdf instruction sheet... all you had to do is read.

But instead, you decided to turn it into a 3 page debate about nothing because everything you kept going on about was in the link I gave you 1 post after you asked.

Its clear you aren’t busy - and you don’t like being wrong and you love to go around in circles even after you are corrected... and you can’t stand not having the last word. So, I'll let you have the last word because I'm certain it will be as pointless as every other post after I gave you the answer.

It was a subtle attempt at humor Mike. I was trying to help the guy until you interupted the conversation. Technically my link has all the info your's has also.

No,I dont have any mods and havent ever had it it the high RPM range for very long. Passing on the HWY or a little showing off here and there, but nothing ridiculous or excessive.

The Nissan Service Dept is scratching heads and havent heard of this happening.

Thats a cool tool in the pic... I have one coming this weekend on loan from the same guy that could get the buckets to me, along with a full set of exhaust side springs.

Im impressed that you guys are so worked up over this... I appreciate your concern, I really do! The advice that I have gotten in this thread is invaluable and very welcome. I owe all of you so much and I hope I can give back as much as I've been able to take away from this. Keep it up!!!

I hope to have it back on the road by Monday or so... I'll keep you posted.

Not yet... I'll snap a few before it goes back together. Hell, It isnt even all the way disassembled yet, Im waiting for the "tool" and parts this weekend.

Maybe I could put together a little powerpoint presentation for the repair and assembly. We tore it down on a whim so pics werent a priority at the time... Sorry!

Hello, I am tackling the same problem, I got a 2003 G35 Coupe with 90k. This lifter tap started little past 80k. I measured the space with a feeler gauge and found a little extra space on the Cylinder 3 area... Tomorrow I am going to tear appart the Timing chain and pop out the camshaft and inspect the spring.. I am doing all this in my pops shop i think when im that deep i will just take out the head as well.... Here are some pics

I would appreciate any suggestions please PM me, I will keep you guys updated with what I find.

-Thanks
