Unlimited Tuning Y-pipe dyno.

Let me start by saying that this was the first time my G was
ever on the dyno and it was a great experience, I recommend it to all my fellow G owners. I also want to thank Unlimited Tuning for the use of their Y-pipe and their time.
At the request of Unlimited Tuning I removed my Injen CAI
and re-installed my stock air box.
We ran the car 8 times on the dyno, 3 in stock trim and 5 times with the Y-pipe.
We started after 9:00 A.M. and it was already about 80F and
the humidity was in the 80% range. Bar. Pressure: 29.90.
By the time we finished all the runs the temp. was in the high
80's and the humidity was almost unbareable.
Here is the dyno sheet:
Dynorun 002 was in stock trim and netted 219.5hp & 208.1tq.
Dynorun 004 was w/Y-pipe and netted 225.5hp & 212tq.
The gains although not substantial are there and I think the gains would have been greater on a car with more modifications such as a crawford plenum or an intake.

Re: Unlimited Tuning Y-pipe dyno.

Looks like you have the A/F ratio for the stock setup. Could you post the A/F graph for the Y pipe dyno? Thanks!

Re: Unlimited Tuning Y-pipe dyno.

Thanks for the report. This dyno is a far cry from their claims on the 350Z board of 15+ something HP, and when factoring in the usual suspects of dyno variance due to a million factors this appears to fall along the same lines as the other Y pipes available.

Re: Unlimited Tuning Y-pipe dyno.

Is that a comparison of the two best runs, or the worst stock and the best ypipe?
What was the average difference?

Re: Unlimited Tuning Y-pipe dyno.

Catatafish:

First, take into consideration that this is on a G35 stock intake vs a 350Z stock intake, which is more free flowing than the G35 and that's why a lot of G owners buy the Z stock pipe. Another thing is the G35 is 5AT whereas the Z is 6MT.. A more comparable comparison would be a G35 6MT w/Z pipe.. but either way that is expected.. I'm waiting to see what Kinetix comes out with before I decide which Y pipe to buy.. either way this is one nice looking pipe and is cheaper than the JIC and the Fujitsubo pipes

Re: Unlimited Tuning Y-pipe dyno.

Catafish: Agreed. Definitely more in line with the 5-6 rwhp gain we've seen on just about every other Y-pipe out there. If there really existed a Y-pipe out there that gave 15+ rwhp I'd get three! =P

Re: Unlimited Tuning Y-pipe dyno.

Sorry I don't have any sound clips but the y pipe was not much louder than stock maybe a slightly deeper tone at
w.o.t. (sounded really good).
Sorry, I did not do any dyno runs with the Injen C.A.I.
All three stock runs were within 1 peak hp of each other.
All five Y-pipe runs were all within 1 - 2 hp of each other.
It averaged out to about a 5 to 6 hp gain at the wheels.
If you look at the dyno sheet closely its about a 4 to 6 hp
gain across the entire graph, which is very important.

Re: Unlimited Tuning Y-pipe dyno.

For those of you interested when I changed back to my stock air box setup from the injen c.a.i. the car seem to be more
responsive on the low end of the rpm scale.
I think i will going to the racetrack soon and run the car in the 1/4 mile in stock trim and then change to the injen and see the difference.

Re: Unlimited Tuning Y-pipe dyno.

My car was completely stock, no mods.
I think the gains would be better on a modified car.

Re: Unlimited Tuning Y-pipe dyno.

Very well said SagiSRP. Give or take you have 2 scenario and 2 outcomes. Nonetheless Unlimited Tuning's Y-pipe is a winner in my book. I already placed my preorder with them.

Petrog, did you end up keeping the ypipe? ;P

Re: Unlimited Tuning Y-pipe dyno.

I havent seen many stock dyno's, but doesn't that seem kinda low?? Nice gains anyway.
