Clutch Flushing/Bleeding Should Be Done!
To all MT members with high mileage G/Zs, cloudy clutch fluids reservoirs, or to anyone that would like to give their car proper maintenance.
If you suspect:
The clutch pedal is the weak point to your shifting style.
The clutch pedal is a little spongy.
The clutch pedal will not "keep up" with the engine/transmission's quickness.
Follow this link to flush/bleed your clutch lines!
Notes:
Will need a partner to work the clutch for you.
Can substitute the syringe with a "high absorbing" paper towel.
The bleeding bolt is 8mm.
Very easy to do!
You won't believe how much easier it is to downshift.

Interesting - I've been using the easier (and probably slightly less effective) method of just sucking the reservoir dry, refilling, pumping clutch 20 times, and then repeating the process one more time. I then drove the car a couple weeks and went through those same motions again. Did this on my maxima and the G with excellent results. On my Maxima it fixed the all too common limp clutch pedal problem that can come up during high heat situations.
I believe the syringe in the video is the same one I bought at Walmart for about $4. Fits the bill perfectly. I belive it was labeled as a 2 stroke mixing syringe in the automotive fluids isle.
Also don't waste your time with DOT3. DOT4 synthetic has higher heat tollerance, mixes with existing DOT3 and it's cheap.

Hi guys, I read in the owners manual that you shouldn't use synthetic brake fluid. Were they just referring to the brakes? The brake fluid and clutch fluid is the same thing right? What brand of brake fluid do you guys recommend? I'm planning on flushing mine soon, so any help would be appreciated, thanks.

DOT 5.1 is also non-silicone so it will work on our brake systems.

Oh I see.... I pumped WAY more fluid than that through (about 350 ml). Would of kept going but was running late and had to stop. But yeah, it went from being nasty yellow to having a very slight yellow tint at the end.
I couldn't find anywhere in the FSM what volume the clutch system holds, wierd how Infiniti has it mentioned for certain things (coolant, engine oil, tranny oil) but not for other systems.
Didn't have problems with my clutch but the liquid was just due for a change. The engagement feels a tiny bit better now!
