instld crank pulley, is ecu reset ness?

I just installed the u/r crank pulley after a while of debating, i had a post about it and people persuaded me to put it on sayin it added a good gain. At first i did feel that way when it was installed, the next day i thought the car felt sluggish. I raced my buddy who i always race to see what we do to our cars help or not. Our cars are very very close but i pull hard up top, to my surprise i did not pull nearly as hard as i used to. Could my computer not be compinsating for the pulley and putting it into the "slower" mode? If i reset this ecu will it help it out??? it did a lot for the plenum and cats but that has to do with air flow into the engine changing. Is reseting this ecu going to bring back the power plus an addition from the pulley or is there a chance this pulley actually lost hp for me??

Here's my thought process...
Engine rpm's haven't changed.
You're only underdriving your accessories.
Air flow into your engine hasn't changed.

Short answer, IMO, no!

I thought that the UR pulley wasn't an "underdrive" pulley which would reduce power to accessories, but an "ultra-light" pulley which just allows the engine to spin up faster.

I do agree though - no ECU reset should be necessary...

The pulley is about 20% smaller and weighs about 70-80% (about 6 or 7 lbs. less IIRC) than the stock pulley. No reset should be necessary.

The debate on whether the pulley damages the engine or not notwithstanding, the laws of physics dictate that your car's performance should improve. Perhaps something else may be affecting your performance?

In terms of underdriving the accessories, I haven't had any problems with the AC going, aftermarket stereo blaring, etc.

hmm interesting.... my battery cable is disconected for about 7 hours now, i cant see it changing anything either but i will find out. It seems to pull harder from 5-6700 but slower before that...... strange, anyone actually have proof of this pulley actualy helping on the dyno.

Al - any noticeable changes to your powered accessories as a result of the undersized pulley?

umm i think i noticed that the air did not seem as cold, but i could be crazy. So far to be honest, i am not too thrilled with the pulley, all it seems to have done is make me hit the gears a little harder.

Not that I could tell. I have some decent amount of power sucked up by the stereo system and no problem with that and the AC on even at idle.

The AC is colder when the revs are up at cruising speeds but I think it was the same before the pulley change as others have mentioned keeping the revs up to get the most out of the AC.

I'm assuming this is an UR pulley? If so, it says on the instructions that it takes a week of driving for the ECU to compensate for the lower mass of the pulley. The gains will be felt after that. I have had the whole set (crank, alt, water pump) for 6 months and no problems. I did the reset right after and noticed an immediate difference. Quicker revs and the engine actually felt smoother too. They most definitely did not make the car more sluggish. Reset properly,

then give it another try.
