check engine light on after plug change

Hi, I just changed my plugs. Now,when I start it up, the check engine light is on. Is this normal? I unplugged the battery in hopes of clearing the code but its back. Never had the engine light on ever before, so its obviously because of the plug change. It runs great and I double checked all connections. anyone have any ideas?

thanks,

Chris

I heard this is normal. However, I just changed mine the other day as well, didn't unplug the battery, and got no check engine light lol. I also got no check engine light when installing my plenum spacer. Odd

plug codes

Hey guys, thanks for getting back to me. I really appreciate it.
I put in the NGK iridium IX plugs: LFR5AIX-11 Stock NO: 4469

Got them at r&S strauss.

Please let me know if they are correct.

I just checked sparkplugs.com
and the ones I have are the ones they recommend for the car. They recommend gap at .044. I gapped them a bit closer at .043 from some things I read. I doubt that would throw up codes. I check the gaps when I pulled them out before from the old ones and they ranged from .40 - .50. And I had n o codes with such a diverse gapping situation.

Any ideas?

so if anyone is following this. I unplugged the batery for about 24 hours. Hooked it back up and all codes and check engine light are now gone. I drove it for about an hour and everything is still clear.

Thanks for the help.
