Search broke >< how much hp?

I have been searching the crap out of the g35 since I'm looking into buying one and want ALL the facts before hand...I have been searching this forum so much I think I broke the search function cause it doesn't want to work for me anymore lol...So question is, how much hp and torque does it take to hit 13 sec flat in 1/4 mile? I'm trying to set up my mod list before I buy the car and compare that with other cars. I've been talking with g35 performance stores but they can't tell me what I want to know based off of wanting to hit 13's...They can only go by how much hp/torque I'm looking for....

Thank you so much in advance!!!

maybe spray will get you there, otherwise forced induction will be your ticket.

Ya, I was planning on F/I but don't know which way to go since its the 5A...I used to have a grand prix gtp and I LOVE the way they scream. So I was looking at the Stillen root blower but I'm afraid I won't be able to get enough out of it. But I'm talking to Stillen now and they said they don't do any 1/4 testing so they can't tell me what I need without numbers...So thats why I need to know how much hp/torque it would take to hit 13 flat...

Ok, heres the thing...I have a $10k to $12k budget...What do I need for 13 flat and be a reliable daily driver? Please no links to other threads as I have searched and its hard to find all the info I want...

thanks!!

Its tough to say because driver ability will always be a factor. You can look at the TOP 25 1/4 mile times thread and see how much power they are pushing and their relative times.

I think you can push a 125 SHOT of nitrous and get pretty close to 13.0. Some 350Z have gone below that with a 100 shot.

So, in all reality you probably want to have ~380-400 whp. This is more of a guess based on the 1/4 mile times I've seen.

If you are a 5AT you will also need to heavily consider getting the TRANSGO valve body reprogramming kit for faster shifts and reliability with that kind of power. With FI you should also get a trans cooler and it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a trans fluid temp gauge.

and also getting a higher f/d

n/a you're best bets are going with an osiris tune, MREV2, 5/16th's plenum spacer, I/E, grounding kit if you're going AT, a 100 shot, and possibly new headers. oh! and wider tires for a better launch.

Ok, I dont know these cars very well so i dont know how they take performance parts...So you can flame me, call it bench racing, or give me a good answer but from all the research ive been doing, this is the mod list i have come up with within my budget,

Vortech Procharger with fuel pump and 600cc injectors
transgo shift kit
trans cooler
grounding kit
MotorDyne 5/16" Basic Plenum Spacer
catback exhaust

Now ive been racing at the local strip for quite some time and see myself as a pretty good driver...so with a fairly good driver, what kind of 1/4 time could i get? im at sea level if that helps any...

and from what ive researched, the weakest part of the engines are the connecting rods. when would i have to change them?

thanks!

350whp should be safe on the non rev-up engines provided its a good tune. Since your going with a SC, you won't have to worry too much about the torque. If you plan on pushing around 400whp/wtq then you would want to start building the block. If you were to rebuild the short block, at minimum I would replace rods, pistons and bearings.

Get a 3.7FD or higher differential.

Will 350whp get me 13 flat in the quarter? Thats my goal lol..And since I dont have the car yet, Im trying to do as much research as possible before I go spending $20k on this project....If everything ive researched adds up, i should be getting the car tomorrow so thats why i keep pressing this issue about will this work, will that work, yadda yadda yadda...tell you what, if somebody would be kind enough to give me a list of what i would need to reach my goal going the vortech procharger route, all these noob questions will stop lol....

^Too many variables to consider. These 2 links should answer your question:

Research the times and what setups are used:

Research setups with stock internals:

Get the g as a daily driver and with the left over go get a bike. You will easily push 13 sec quarters.

Use search. Or look through the Top 25 list as mentioned above. you can see their times and their mods.
