Does this include the new ECU updates for the 2004.5's? If so, how does this piggy back system work? Is it set up to work with specific mods? Does it need to be programmed initially like the TS ECU does? There seems to have been a lot said about this piggyback, but there nothing about how it works. Also, how come this thing is SO EXPENSIVE? The ones for the honda's are several hundred dollars cheaper. It looks like they are just gouging the Infiniti owners because our cars cost more...

Straight from the Unichip website... If this is true then my 301 bhp G35 should gain a MINIMUM of 15bhp and as much as 27bhp. What type of guarantee is there?
So they have cracked the code for the 2004.5 ECU's? It sounds like a good marketing driven message, but where is the PROOF?

I'm spending $1200 on a set of Crawford Headers. They've been dyno proven by many individuals to give a 20bhp gain over stock (and 40bhp with the plenum and cats)... If I spend another $800+ will my 320bhp vehicle G35 turn into a 340-360bhp machine? This means I'd be nearing the M3 territory. It just sounds "too good to be true".

Someone please help me with this!

 

Looks like a 'tuneable' system like the TS reprograms, but more expensive.

 

Unichip has been around longer than Technosquare (.http://www.dastek.co.za/ ) They are pretty well known on Hondas, etc.The nameless forum on the first listing has a thread on R&D with 6th gen Honda V6's.

Neffster, if you've kept up with the APS TT in the 350z forums, that system uses the Unichip.

One of the things that is interesting is it stores original configuration so you can revert at will.

 

I think I will wait until they learn to spell the name of my vehicle before I consider buying their chip. Do a vehicle search on their web site for the Dyno Data Applications and you will see what I mean.

 

Flfire, other than the US, there is no Infiniti so it's not surprising. Also, many people on the G forums don't know how to spell it either.

 

I would not buy this product w/o someone coming here and explaining it a little better (or atleast explain it a little better on their own website). Do you really think the VQ35DE has another 15bhp (minimum) hidden inside of it? Or maybe 20-25bhp with NA mods?

Does this raise the rev limiter? Remove the electronic speed limiter? etc...

 

15 bhp, probably. Even Technosquare claims that. More, hmmm.. Far as I know the rev limiter is raised and mixture/timing maps altered. Dastek Unichip is well known in racing circles in many different makes (European, US, etc) for NA and FI. Should be a dealer in your area you can talk to and probably get it tuned at.

I like the idea of a piggyback and locally programming much more than Technosquares's mail-in special that leaves me cold. Technosquare is okay for CA locally. SGP does reprogramming in Houston using the Techtom programmer.Still undecided. If only the Unchip was little cheaper..Maybe a GB?

For more info, just do a Google search (ignore the unichip for servers) and you'll find plenty of references including race teams (prototypes, autox, etc).

I wanted to see if you were looking! I guess you're right about people here not being able to spell the Infiniti name either. But then again I'm just a hack playing around on this web site and am not representing a professional U.S. aftermarket auto company appealing to knowlegable car owners.
