STP Oil treatment for oil consumption problem?

So I was told by a worker at the local parts store to try using the STP Oil treatment to help with the oil consumption issue with my car...

I added it to the last oil change I did about a week ago...I usually stay away from any "treatments" and don't really believe in them but at this point im willing to try anything since my oil doesnt even last 3k miles...

Has anyone had good luck with this? Any other things we can try to help with this issue?

BTW, my block was replaced by Infiniti at around 50k miles...the oil consumption issue started up again at around 110k miles, im at 120k miles now..

The OC issue is caused by crappy pistons and rings so I doubt a fuel/oil additive will do anything to slow it down.

^word. the only thing you can do with the oil to reduce OC is to run thicker oil itself. But thats not going to make any drastic difference and if you go to thick you open the door for other problems.

If you had the bottom end serviced due to OC issues by the dealer itself then you should contact the dealer and see if they can help you out at all. Not sure what type of warranty they offer on their own service work but that is the avenue I would explore.

no do not use the STP. if u were to try any additives use Lucas Engine Oil Stop Leak. that stp won't do anything for you and the lucas is a coin flip hope of it working and not damaging any other parts not needing the stop leak but only after you check with your dealer about replacement as stated by livinglegend

The dealer refused to work on it anymore, they said it was out of warranty already

It's not cheap but new pistons and rings should help since that is the primary concensus of the reason for excessive OC.

try the lucas. regardless look at rebuild as additives are only temporary solutions in most cases

I'm pretty sure the owner's manual says do not use any oil additives...
