What kind of cam is he running? Also, has he considered using ITBs?

I'm thinking ~330 bhp at the crank is feasible with the right mods.

If you want wide street tires witou pissing off the VDC you can run

295/35-18 and 265/35-18. I've been running them for a few k now and all is well. I use SSR Comp-H wheels since they are wide , light and inexpensive.
It's supriseing how this much rubber tuck into the fender well, they don't bug out at all.

Well then I stand corrected and I thank you people for clearing thing up. But I was making and assumption based on what have seen many manual Z owners claim they are getting stock or with at least an intake and/or exuast.

Talking Weight and Gears!!!!!!!!!!

The G35 is not a good choice if you are looking to drag race.

If you are not going to add F.I. forget trying to squeeze more power out of the VQ- The ROI (return on investment), is crappy.

The best way to lower times at the strip would be to remove weight and change the gears! You could put $10,000 in the VQ and still get smoked by a stock G35 with a 200lbs. weight reduction and gear change from stock to a more aggressive rear end ratio.

I have read in mags and on this site that the stock rods are only good for 400BHP. The 2005 had "internal strengthing of the motor", so the 2005 may be stonger. Of course you can replace the rods but tearing down an engine gets expensive. Someone posted onetime about putting the old Skyline turbo motor in a G. The old skyline turbo was like the Supra turbo and could go 700+bhp. I would be intereted in that info if anyone has it.

The general consensus is that it would be cheaper to rebuild the VQ then to try and fit an RB in the car. The VQ has more displacement, so when built should be able to produce more power.
