Easy Ecu Resetting
This is weird... When i put it on the on position and step down on the gas paddle it starts making this one loud repeating clicking noise over and over again. Can someone please tell me what this is? The good news is that I succeeded in resetting the ECU though. Please help me on this matter.
I just tried this on my 05 coupe A/T
I guess I got lucky because it worked the first time
After the sequence the SEL flickered on and off while I proceeded to beat the hell out of the car for about 20 minutes, MM 5000-6000 shifts and in in drive too. I dont see a real difference, the SEL went off after I started it again. Only mod is the Ztube/K&N filter. I am not sure if it did anything but it sure was fun!
LOL

So, after reading through all these pages ...=P... this doesnt reset the ECU, all it does is apparantly clear the memory it had of the CEL errors and all.
Only real way to reset the ECU is to disconnect the battery over night? (negative terminal only)

well, i just took the car for a ride after the "reset"....
not sure if it indeed reset or not, but i noticed just a SLIGHT difference, the exhaust was slightly more aggressive while idleing, rpms climbed and decreased slightly smoother....but it may just be my imagination, and in terms of power...well, i did set off VDC shifting into third. (this is something very rare, only done it twice in my stock 6mt)
Now...i had just washed the car 2 hours ago, so the tire gel might have played a part in the vdc set off, and my tank was under the line on empty, i was actually otw to fill up. On the way home with a full 17 gallon tank, i wasnt able to set off vdc shifting into 3rd anymore, but it was still slightly more responsive to the throttle. Im gonna be doing the overnight reset just to see what the difference is.

exhaust sounds and feels more aggresive!!!
the sound is more stiff!!!

if the service light still blinks while driving you have to do it again!!!!!
let it blink and then hold the gas pedel for about another 10 sec and it'll stop blinking!!!! and thats wen u got it right!!!!!

well my 04 6mt coupe hasnt been reset in over 14k so god only knows what will happen to it. If this infact does something based on the amount of time inbetween resets ill be sure to notice. Probably should have looked into the ecu reset a while ago but never really thought of it. Ill test it out and update.
UNREAL... after 15000 miles on my car everything just feels better, timing, intake, you name it. Smoother acceleration, not to mention faster. Overall, whatever the fast "reset" does, it worked. Took a while to get it right, really have to hold down the clutch on the m/t. But well worth the 35 seconds it takes to do it, i dont really care what it does, you can do it before you go to work in the morning, not really going out of your way.
Make sure your car is in gear, clutch is held in, all equiptment in car off, air radio etc, hood and doors closed. I was always pumping the gas pedal too slow for the 5 pumps. If I pump it faster than 1x per second it always works for me. Also I press the gas pedal down for the 10 second hold right when my watch gets to the 8th second of the 7-10 second count.
I'm sure some of these things are unnecessary but it works for me every time and I'm not gonna change anything at this point. Good luck
