Of course - the SS box is not an ECU replacement - it's a piggy back that only augments A/F and timing retard...the factory ECU still has to control the rest of the car.

When your car was tuned - I would have to assume the ECU was reset several times then as well to get a true reading. You should reset regularly as well...like every 4-6 weeks.

That's what I do.

forget resetting the ECU-
Is there a ECU flash that is worth the $400.
I was told on a G you could expect 10 HP and 20psi torque by reprogramming?
I didn't think it would do that on a normally asperated car, but every year the same engine comes out with 10 more horse from the factory.
???

Well..this is a post full of weirdness:

1 - An ECU re-flash is about $600 - not $400 - if you want performance enhancements

2 - Torque is not measure by PSI it's measured by lbs., and you can expect between 10-15HP and 7-9lbs of TQ from a TS re-flash - FULL SPEC

3 - The re-flash is designed for NA carts to begin with. If you go FI, you need to have it re-flashed to clear out the changed Fuel and Timing maps so the piggy back ECU can control them more reliably.

4 - Our cars don't come out with 10 more HP every year. There was only 1 change to date - but the 2007 Sedan, under SAE standards, brings 3 more HP into play - the Coupe and the new HR VQ - will be a different story.

If that doesn't work you could try it during a lunar eclipse of Mars on Friday the 13th while wearing nothing but a rubber glove that is not on your hand.
QFT. i spent at least 20 times attempting to get this to work. tried this method once while i was pissed off for spending so much time trying to do this and got it to work...SOOOOO MUCH MORE RESPONSIVE. I don't care to argue what really resets but there is definitely a positive result from it.

at what point do you start counting. When you just turn the ignition on or when computer checks all the systems and air bag light goes off.?
No luck.......Started counting right after it was turned to on position, When all the gases lit up, when airbag light went off. NOTHING. can't get that **** working................What if I as dealer to do it during my next oil change? U think they will be up for it.?

What I do, is turn the key and wait for the 2nd beep of the seatbelt warning...works every time...also, the battery disconnect method works every time as well....flawless and only about 15 minutes to do it all.

I still like battery disconnect for a min. of 15 minutes, turn ignition on, hold brake pedal down for 30 sec. release, back to off, and then reconnect battery.
Folks should not confuse throttle position resets, etc. with ECU reset.
If you disconnect the throttle module connect or physically move the plate while the battery is disconnected, you should go through the re-cal procedure.
Sorry to stray off topic a bit but did it for clarification purposes.

Thanks for no help Dick.
FYI-I found a guy to reprogram the computer. Cost a couple hundred, but less than 400. He hooked me up and its not just a factory reset.
The car runs like a bat outta hell. Much quicker, rev's higher, etc..
In 2004 G Sedan's were rated at 260 HP, 2007 has 306HP. 3 yrs + 40hp from basically the same engine. My '04 feels alot closer to the 300 than 260 now.

Who was this guy and how can we get in touch with him? If he was indeed able to reflash your computer for a couple hundred (dollars, I assume), then he should get the word out and give these other companies some competition.

On the other hand, if just he hooked up Cipher and added 2* timing and reset the learned maps, then you got ripped off.

My feeling too. Especially if you can not go to a tuner and need to mail in your ECU.
Technosquare and others understand what works best with other mods you may have based on a lot of experience. That's worth something too, and should show up when the tire meets the road!
