Thanks!

I successfully reseted my ECU on a 2003 G35c.

I had an issue with poor throttle response and noisy idle. The reset has definitely made the vehicle more "peppy", smoother and with a more aggressive exhaust note.

One thing to note, I have done this in the past without success but this time around I counted the 3 seconds *after* the fuel pump stopped whining.

Hope this helps!

Thanks ALOT OP!

How often would you all recommend resetting the ECU?

I perform the pedal reset method once every 3 to 4 weeks.

2003 g35 coupe, 5 AT, AFE stage 2 air intake.

installed a 'performance' chip which connects to the MAF.
didnt crimp the connectors tight enough so the wires
werent touching, service engine soon light came on, car
died as i throttled, lucky i was pulling out of my driveway as it happened,
got it hard wired and connected correctly now, but ever since i
installed the air intake (before the chip install) it seems to have lost
some power, just tried 5x to do the quick ECU reset with no success,
will try again here shortly, question is, disconnecting the battery, will
i have to enter any radio codes or do anything with my navigation system?

thanks!

i cant say it works, done it and nothing, also when i turn the car just on ( and not start it) and leave it while all the lights are on and not touching anything, the service engine light blinks by itself, dunno why either

I do the battery disconnect once a month - in fact, the first Sunday of every month. Takes 20 minutes from start to finish....

ok questions- do you have to do all the steps on http://www.technosquareinc.com/350reset.htm or just the first steps 1-8?
also if your g is stock will it make a difference?
and would anyone recommend doing the pedal method and battery method at the same time?
finally how often should it be done , both battery and pedal.
thanks

Just the first steps are necessary to reset the ECU. I like that link, by the way! Lots of good info. Now, whether it makes a difference or not on your G, stock or not, will depend on who you ask. Same goes for how often, some do it monthly, weekly, or every time they start their car (careful - it can really annoy passengers you may be carrying).

I think the only real difference between the pedal and battery method is, well, do you want to keep your trip meter or not?

Just watch the Check Engine light (CEL). Using the pedal method, after the initial 10 sec hold, it blinks slowly, about one per sec. Then the second time you hold the gas pedal, the CEL blinks at about twice that pace.

After all the blinky, turn the key to off, then start 'er up! Your done!

wow after 7 months of being unsuccessful and just giving up. I decided to try it again yesterday and success. I must say that there is more "pep" to the car and I actually feel the mods more then ever. Exhaust note is different as well.
