Easy Ecu Resetting

nevermind figured it out, i was looking for a separate light cuz my service engine light was always on when i had the key in the on position, realized what i was looking for when the sel light started to blink
I also did the pedal method. I bought the car about a month ago and was somewhat satisfied with the car minus the slow acceleration at wot. after doin this, i have a new found love for the car, it was a complete night and day difference for me.

Going to try this now. I've had the car for 6 weeks, 104K miles. Previous owner was a dentist so I'm sure he grannied the car.
edit: just went for a drive. reset worked on my first try. I could definitely feel a difference, felt snappier and shifted much nicer, also idles just a tad higher. I can't even imagine what the trans go shift kit must feel like

Well, I went out to try this moments ago.. I tried 4 times, but decided to stop for now because I felt bad for my gas peddle. I'll try again tomorrow, or just disconnect the negative cable for 10min or so, I can live with losing my radio presets.
edit: Got it to work today.. seems the same to me. Oh well.

Worked for me. Took me 3-4 tries to get it. Engine light was flashing on and off the first time i drove it after it reset, then stopped once i restarted the car again. Definitely feels a little quicker and the tiptronic shifting is a bit more responsive.
Now the tires even spin a tiny bit when i floor it in 1st from a stop, didnt before i reset it.

so i tried all these procedures and got nowhere. i have an 05' sedan a/t. what happened was i changed the harmonic balancer, and in the middle of the swap, i had to start the car and move it a couple feet with the balancer and belts off of it. after i moved it i shut it off, and now it will not restart. i figured an ecm reset would fix the issue but no luck. any suggestions?

Just to add my two cents. I have had my car for about 2 months and have consistently got 14.5mpg. Granted, I am a little heavy footed but even when I have tried hard to take it easy I got 14.5mpg. If I drove like a teenage ricer on crack, I got 14.5mpg. Today I tried this easy reset, got it on the second try. I didn't try romping on it so I didn't feel any difference. Tonight I had to drive a 100 mile round trip and based on the fuel consumption, I am guessing I am somewhere around 20mpg. Just sharing my anecdotal experience.

I finally got around to trying the reset tonight, after owning the car about a month. What a difference! Prior owner was an elderly physician, and he trained the ECU to putt-putt along. Got the reset on the third try.
Followed the suggestions to then go out with the manumatic and drive it spiritedly. Now when in drive, at a standing start the engine is much more responsive to pedal pressure...it really grabs and goes. The upshifts are way quicker, and happen at higher rpms in the strong bandwidth, and the car pulls through. The downshifts are much much more responsive when kicking it while rolling. Before the downshifts just lolled about, like it was hunting around before deciding yes, it's time to go. Now, it knows when the pedal is down, let's get helloutahere.
I followed the concise instructions on the last page of the Motordyne manual for plenum spacer installation:
http://motordyneengineering.com/manual.pdf
It provides a little more info on the meaning of the blinking check engine light than the OP's initial description at the start of the thread: when it should blink slowly and when it should blink rapidly, signifying that you were successful.
My gas mileage hasn't been too great either as noted in the previous posts; I'll be interested to see if there is any improvement in that regard. Even if there isn't, it's gonna be way more fun for the gas investment!

Nice!!
That's the thing with a proper ECU reset.. the car is more responsive.. fun to drive... therefore any possible gains in MPG's because of the reset... are diminished BECAUSE of the reset... because it's FUN to drive!!
Enjoy man!!
btw.. you should at least be seeing about 19mpg average, more on highway...
