Easy Ecu Resetting
#482
just did this today, not sure if i did it right, wait 3 secs (or just count 3 out of 4 inital beeps the car makes when the key is turned to ON) then quickly tap the gas 5x, wait 7 seconds, and floor the gas pedal, service engine light starts to blink, release gas, depress gas again for 10 seconds and release. the reason im not sure if i did it right is because is it suppose to continue blinking after the sequence is complete? I noticed it wouldn't stop till i either removed the key or started up the car.

WHen I bought my 06 G 6MT it came with the Bully Dog ECU re-flash (and excuse me if its not a "re-flash", I'm a noob and am not very familiar with all this) but I went ahead and tried this and it seemed to work, light blinked and all... my question is, if I'm reseting the ECU, is that going to re-set to default set-up and in turn whipe out anything the Bully Dog device has accomplished? Or will it simply reset the "learned" driving habits and keep the HP/fuel economy gains that are achieved through the Bully Dog device in tact?
Also, anyone have experience with the Bully Dog devices for G35's? Can't say I would have spent $300 on the thing but will certainly use it since it came free.... Much appreciated fellas

Before disconnecting your battery to reset ECU, just a reminder:
On the coupe, don't disconnect the battery without lowering the windows. The windows lower slightly when you open the door. They can't do that if the battery is disconnected and opening the door may then cause damage to the window or roof.

Just got back from doing it. It is 11:48PM.. I had to try it. It really, really works. I am second owner from lease return and have put 3K miles on my 06 AT Coupe. I always drive with a heavy foot and Holy SHlT!!! You all may not notice too much of a difference but WOW!!! Previous owner must have really driven conservatively.
I let it idle for about 2 min after the reset. I can hear and see it idling higher than usual... then it slowly went down. The car just responds much better. I am sure I am going to lose MPG's but I didn't buy this car because it is economical.. that is for the Civic Nation. Huge thumbs and a weiner up to the OP!!!

6mt ecu reset
First off noticed about a 300 higher rpm idle of about 30 seconds then started to drop back to where it was. Second gear seemed to hit harded that was about it. At the end of the procedure the check engine light just slowed down never cut off untill I turned the car off then drove it. Is this the same for everyone else?

Look guys you have to try this. I am firm believer that this definitely resets your ECU settings. Before the previous owner drove for around 25k. I reset it just now at 12am. Shame on you if you can't get it to work. My wife did it her 2nd try lol. You really feel better responsiveness when accelerating and downshifting. When idling it also sounds different. I should have done this a week ago instead of doing my fuel injector system cleaner. Well thumbs up for this post

My butt-dyno tells me the gas pedal method works. Plus you don't erase your stereo pre-sets. Otherwise disconnect the neg overnight, then reset your radio. If you get it right, the check engine light will blink. It works for my wife's 04 FX too!!
