Easy Ecu Resetting
resetting ECU...
I was initiated into the mystical "Service Engine Soon" indicator fraternity... I just wanted to mention that after fudging multiple attempts to get the resetting process down.. I figured out that in the beginning when you turn the ignition to the "on" position.. the procedure states to wait 3 seconds, then pump the accelerator 5 times within 5 seconds.
I found this "5 times" actually needs to be completed before the warning chime that comes on when you first turn the key, stops... it was only THEN that I was able to successfully get the ECU reset process to initiate properly.. I was able to reproduce this several times after that.
This seems to be the critical timing metric... if you are not through the 5 pumps of the pedal before the chime stops... nothing happens! So you can use this as your timing referance.
I just thought I would pass that along to those that can't get this to work... saves having to reset the clock and radio stations after having the battery disconnected overnight!

Also - some 1st post advice - read a bit, you'll know why....
And oh yea - 500HP at the minimum...add about 600ft/lbs of torque too.

Do you guys think doing this ECU reset right before a 1/4 drag race would help? Like while you're waiting in the staging lanes?
It won't hurt to do a reset - but you should test it with runs before and after a reset. I did it before driving 45 miles to the Atco NJ track and ran my best time of 14.2 @ 97.x. It seems to be about the transmission as much as anything. Also, I think you run a tad more rich after a reset so breathing mods may wake up for the time being.

The throttle response does feel a lot more aggressive. But it seems like it goes away after a couple days of driving Or maybe it's just because I've gotten use to it
. But it does wok.
