TROUBLESHOOT: Wierd sound on COLD START~!!!

hey guys,

i just made an appointment to drop off my g35 at south coast infinity next tuesday for a few thigns to look over. i looked around on forums, and tried to find some quick answers so i can inform the tech what is the problem. but here's one that stumped me. so any help would be greatly appreciated...

1) usually during cold starts, i notice when i turn the wheel hard left or hard right, it makes this hideous squeeking noise. sometimes i don't even have to turn wheel, it jsut makes this squeek noise for a few seconds and then gets quiet. it sounds like perhaps a belt or something running? what is it? and how can this problem be fixed?

2) and my window on driver side tends to come down automatically either when i start car sometimes, or when i use the "one touch up" to close the window. it tends to slide back down. someone told me this was a problem with a regulator? or module? i only have this problem currently with driver side... but i heard some people have problems on passenger side as well.. should i ask the tech to look and replace both sides?

thanks again~!!!

I had a similar problem with the windows ... but that happened only once when i tried to roll my windows up at ~ 150 mph. I would pusht them to go up, which they would, but then as soon as they closed, they would go back down!

Both of you guys have problems with your window. The dealer needs to take a look at your cars and fix the problem. These window problems are very common with the G/Z cars.

The squeeking problem appears to be belt related. Possibly a powersteering belt. It might be dried out and in need of replacement.

I've had the same exact problems,

As for the window:

My window did the same thing until it finally went down one day and never went back up...the deal installed a new motor. it was the driver's side by the way.

As for the squeeking noise:

I had my alternator pulley changed due to a similar noise.

Hope this helps.

That sounds like your ABS self check.

i had the car checked out by infiniti. window regulator was replaced.... but they are telling me squeeking is from an aftermarket pulley i had installed. but i don't see how that can be, cause the squeeks came even before that pulley too...

LOL . . . At 150 mph, I would think that you would have bigger concerns than whether or not your windows will roll up or not.
