Has anyone else besides SoCalTed and Dave O do the electric fan converstion? 03 sedan
well guys. after doing this conversion i think i did gain a bit of responsivness from the car
but on 100 degree day my temperature guage starts to climb up a bit when i drive the car hard. I dont have any plastic shileds under my car so maybe this has to do with overheating , Im not sure yet, maybe electric fan just does not cut it.

do you guys think plastic shields undeneath the engine help to cool the engine or otherwise? I think maybe the lack of such should provide more air flow and more cooling?
also, fan shuts off at 25mph, maybe this is too earlie ?
Anyone with this mod has an issue with overheating ?

The plastic shields probably trap hot air. The underbody shields, I believe, are much more about aerodynnamic lift and avoiding it at high speed. They design the car with these trays to move air more efficiently underneath the car and mitigating the tendancy for the car to trap an air bubble under there.

Where the heck is DaveO anyways?
It seems like ages since I've read one of his posts! I always found his insights and knowledge here a refreshing contrast to some of the pseudo-experts that frequent the forum.

His insight out here is missed though

It is too bad DaveO doesn't post anymore because he is a very knowledgeable guy. I guess he got sick and tired of debating with me. I asked for dynos or 1/4 miles times for various mods he invented and all I got in return G-tech test results, butt dynos, and "if you don't like it, don't try it". You can blame it all on me, the pseudo-expert.

Sorry I couldn't dyno this for you guys..since I tend to piggyback mods. When I did this one, I also added in a custom Griffin racing radiator. So my results would not have been pure.
I like it. And that's all that counts.
Thanks again DaveO.

i did this mod on my Fox body Mustang back a few years ago and although there wasn't a substantial power gain, there was a slight off the line feel that I got in my Butt-O-Meter. It was worth to me at the time just to clean up the engine bay a little.
