Hyper-Ground (Earthing) Kit Resource Thread
Re: Hyper-Ground Kit-Experiences, Feedback, Etc.
WoW! I have been gone too long. You guys have a serious thread going here. I am glad to see the debate and investigation is still raging on.
Gordgee – looks like you have a fine product! Keep up the good work.
As for the US market, I am still making kits! My website has been up for little over a month now and I am working on revisions now.
Check it out: www.z-xtreme.com
Technical issues:
True – solid copper IS a better conductor than gold plated brass. However, copper is prone to oxidation which reduces conductivity. The plated terminals will hold up longer. This is why they are used in the audio industry.
metal resistivity, nano-ohm-meter
silver 14.71
copper 15.80
gold 20.11
aluminum 25.00
zinc 54.55
iron 87.10
lead 193.00
mercury 983.96
So as you can see gold is only 5 nano-ohms behind copper. NANO-Ohms!

Nice to see you back!
As I said, different theories. I was told that depending on the core material of the lug, the conduction might occur just on the surface gold plating, which is why I chose to use solid copper. I wasn't happy with the gold lugs that I cut open found locally. Besides, the copper takes a long time to oxidize and can be easily cleaned. As per my previous pics, even copper lugs can be 'iffy' quality, but at least I can easily determine this. The gold admittedly looks cooler.
I used to be into high-end audio and amongst audiophiles, there is also some debate re gold connectors. Some refuse to use them unless the jacks are also gold plated and simply clean the surfaces with TWEAK or similar products. They claim that you can hear the difference.
You make a good product from what I've heard which is why I've linked others to your site. Best of luck in your new business venture.

Re: Hyper-Ground Kit-Experiences, Feedback, Etc.
Gord, I installed them last nite and they look fabulous. I did however under-estimate the time it took to do the installation. The longest and hardest part was connecting the transmission ground. I really tore up my hands good, but managed to bolt it to your recommended location. I would make a recommendation to make the tranny ground wire an inch or two longer for added slack and manuverability. I had to use the car jack to get under the car (very scary if by yourself) since I did not have ramps. The instructions were excellent, but mounting point pictures in the docs would have been helpful. Thanks to this forum, I was able to get a good view of the ground points.
The car seems to feel silky smooth in actual driving. Shifting is also smoother, but not noticeable quicker. I did notice quicker throttle response though. I will do more testing and will post more impressions.
Very good work Gord. Proud to have your products in my car. I will post pics soon.

!Mbarrad! Please don't ever go under your car again with the car jack. It is not worth it. I will be driving thru Texas in two weeks. If you can't afford jackstands, I will bring you one then. (However they are only like 6.00 at a autoparts store or Wal-Mart.) When a jack fails it is not a pretty picture. Sorry for the preaching, just concerned.
Gordgee can I make my set out of some 4 ga house ground wire? It looks just like all the audio wire I have used before for amp power leads.

This is amazing, everyone is finally finding out that these earthing kits work.
I posted in early March that Insanamine worked with me to design an earthing kit for the G35C, I reported the positive results that I got, most everyone that replied was a skeptic.
I too tried to make my own kit. Being in the Audio Industry, I had access (read FREE) to really good 4ga wire and crimps, but Insanamine's workmanship is truly professional and better than any thing I could make. Instructions were very detailed and installation was a no brainer. I think it took me 15 - 20 minutes.
Well how did my car perform with this kit?
Performance wise, there's a smoothness that's noticeable above 4000 RPM; subtle but noticeable. Throttle response appears to be more responsive and the shifts on the 5AT are definately much snappier. I even got the tires to break loose from 1st to 2nd!!!!
If you don't make a kit, get one from Insanamine. here is Guys' email:

I am glad some of you are installing earthing kits and experiencing the improvement!!!

Thanks for the feedback. Let us know any future impressions. I'll look into increasing the length or changing the instructions to hook up to tranny wire. It's best to keep it at a workable minimum length, and yes, that tranny point is a biatch to get at under the car! That's why Insaneamine's wire is shorter and only grounds the tranny filler tube. Still waiting for feedback as to any differences, if any in shifting performance.

Yes, I agree! Never go under the car without a jackstand or ramps! We don't want any preventable tragedies while playing or modding our cars.
From what I understand, the high quality wire (oxygen-free, high strand) is recommended because of the impedence and high frequency signal conduction characteristics of the wire. Some have tried making the kits with welding cable and report mixed results. It's worth a try with the cheaper stuff, but due to the variability of the wire, not everyone's results may be the same. If you do try, please post your impressions.
BillR:
Yes, I've mentioned insaneamine's cables several times and have linked his site as one of the sources for the cables. Do you have his # 6 & # 7 installed? I find that even with the basic 5, the engine feels markedly smoother throughout the rev band, not just above 4 grand, but at high revs, it takes away all the 'buzziness'. Good stuff for a reasonably priced mod that won't affect your warranty. That's the reason for this thread.

Ok Ok Ok. I bought some jack stands today. I don't see any safe place for the stands to hold the car up (don't want the stand to go through the floor board). Where under the car do you all put your stands at? Could not find that information in the owners manual. Thanks guys.

I'm a believer too bro. A cheap mod that works!
Did you install the #6 & #7 wires that InSaNe sent you? I think I read that you did but not sure.
Any thoughts on a #8 wire to ground the MAF to the ECU? That's the latest I've heard about.

Not sure if you have the 6M/T or the A/T. The 7th wire grounds the A/T. Runs from where the #3 wire is at the back of the intake down to either the trans filler tube bolt or down to the tranny case.

Re: Hyper-Ground Kit-Experiences, Feedback, Etc.
I bought the 5 wire kit from Insaneamine off ebay without realizing he had a website to order directly from. It was the same price with "buy it now" as from his website (z-xtreme.com) I might have save a couple of bucks by actually bidding, but it wasn't worth the hassle.
It took about an hour and half for me to install as I'm not used to tooling around in my cars and have never done more than adding various fluids to my cars in the past. I can see an auto mechanic type doing it in about 15 minutes. His instructions were a little confusing without photos as first but I found photos of his 350Z install on his website which made it a lot easier for me.
I definitely noticed more smoothness throughout most of the RPM range, especially at idle. At a stoplight, I don't feel as much vibrations through my shifter (6MT).
Is there any more improvement with a 6th wire to make that worth installing as well? I see that the 7th wire is for AT so that wouldn't help me.

The 6th wire runs from the rear of the intake manifold to the ground point on the right hand shock tower. Pull back the wire harness and you'll see the ground. I've attached a pic to show where the #6 wire ends at the ground behind the harness.
