plasma tv advice

well ive always thought about getting a flat screen and the 3 yr 0% interest is tempting. read some flyers at work and then stopped at best buy to look at the picture quality. so far im looking at the 50" samsung fpt 5084 with stand, cable and tax for under $3000. what do you guys think?

That TV was my second choice. I went with the Sony Bravia 46" 1080p HDTV. I think that the price seems about right for that setup..

I purchased an LCD TV from BuyDig.com and I'd highly recommend them... free shipping, and their prices can't be beat. They've got two 1080 p 52" Samsung LCD models for ~$2200 and $2700

Check out AVSForum.com for some good reviews on this (and other) tv.

0% interest is a great option, just make sure you pay it off completely in time. I don't know if they still do this, but I know that a friend of mine was late on his last payment and ended up having to pay interest on the entire amount. Just make sure you read over all the fine print.

best buy actually. they are about the same price but ill check both once i make my decision. ill look more at the panasonic shortly.

the pioneer 5080 was also brought up. black was truer than the samsung and colors brighter but it was 720p. how much of a difference does this really make?

go plasma, go 1080p or i, and pioneer is my personal favorite when it comes to plasmas, Pannasonic and Samsung are second (for consumer sets).
Like some one says, go to AVSforum for the best advice.

0% is always good.

if you have a 3k budget, i would get this:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....#productdetail

far superior to plasma and its got a 120hz frame rate

seen it in person and it looks amazing, do not buy a tv unless is 120hz, 1080p

rather have a plasma over lcd for this size. 120hz is way beyond what normal eyes can see. it gets redundant after a while. why do you insist on 1080p? i dont plan on getting blu-ray or hd-dvd anytime soon and cable hd broadcasts in 720p if im not mistaken. im leaning towards 1080 just for future purposes though.

I wouldn't get anything but a 1080p so when you do get a PS3, XBox, HD DVD or Blu-ray, you'll have the best picture available.

Do you have room for a projector and screen?

If money was no object, id go with the Pioneer. You can get the Pana 1080p plasma much cheaper than the Pioneer 1080p.

nope not at the condo. i want to buy a house this year so maybe later on.

the pioneer 1080's are pretty expensive. i think ill stick with the samsung. as far as panasonic, which model would you recommend around $2500?

edit: bah im really considering the pioneer 720p. my viewing distance is about 10' and i doubt ill notice the difference. the pioneer picture quality is just so much better.

+1

IMHO the Pioneer is the best looking pic out there, but expensive. The Panasonic is second -- still a great picture, but less $$$.

I disagree. I did some MAJOR research(weeks) when i bought my 42 plasma. I ended up getting the samsung, because the pioneer just didnt look as good. Please, dont get me wrong, the Pioneer is a GREAT TV, but for the extra couple of hundred that it costs, it didnt look as good, nor have the great features. I saw AVSforums.com was recomended. DEFINATELY go there, and do a search for the tv's that you are looking for. I lived in that site and found out the exact tuning for my tv and it makes THAT much of a difference. Either way, you cant go wrong, but i LOVE my samsung!
