Limits of ST?

Hey Guys,

I'm still in the researching phase of my FI project, my 2003 G35c. I have decided to go APS 1) for the completeness of the kits, 2) a friend has the TT and its very impressive.

My question though is if I want to make 400+WHP can I do this on the ST setup (does lag come into play at all with the APS ST? Is there a maximum HP output for ST or can I just keep uping the boost with internals done?) or at that point I should go with TT.

I'm not going to say ~400 HP is all I want because really, there always seems to be a need for more.

Anyone have any input or thoughts on this I don't want to go ST if its going to limit the car in anyway in the long run...

out of the box i believe the kit is rated at 360-380whp... i HIGHLY recommend getting the aps exhaust that mates up to the kit this will easily get you alot closer to the 400whp range... of course theres gonna be a lil more lag than the twins but its not a night and day difference... i dont know the max amount of boost u can go before the turbo loses effectivness but i believe the turbo maxes out at around 500hp so on stock internals its more than enough to keep you happy, IF you do plan on going built and looking for major power i would go with the twins because the aps single is nearly impossible to upgrade turbo wise because of the location of the turbo

he is boosting 9.5psi on stock internals?? that's just asking for it to blow unless he built the engine

boost has a factor in blowing motors but the majority of blown motors are because of bad tuning or bad install

400whp is not a problem with this kit with the right tune and a good install. It is a great kit. Yes it will have a little more lag but for a ST the lag is not bad at all. For the money it is one of the best kits out right now.

APS has not done one on a sedan yet so I was trying to get them to give me a discount on a kit to try it out. They said no

Yes. There are guys out with over 400whp on stock internals but it is a game of Russian roulette.

theres a guy with a 350z with a TN kit who did EVERYTHING right... he went with UTEC, fuel return system, good tune and everything and his motor still gave out 3k miles after install... sometimes you can do everything right and have the motor blow still, so if you really want to be safe and cant afford forged internals get a conservative tune and try to stay under 400whp... on the other hand ive seen people running 430-450whp on TT G's and 350's and they are stil running strong months later

but like they said above its only a matter of time, when you turbo your car on stock internals it cuts down on the life of the motor drastically so take that into consideration, put money to the side in case it does blow so you can rebuild

APS ST is what im going to be getting in a month or two, Ive gone through my share of motors with my honda so i know what its like to get the boost bug and want more... with my car i just want an extra kick 380-400whp im happy with that and that ST kit delivers that with a few extra mods. If your happy with that power range and not want more then its a perfect kit for you. If you have a non revup motor you can also look at the TN kit, but to be honest with you for the price APS is a more complete kit out of box

Find out the reasons why it wont go on the car, it might just be because it wont bolt up correctly, if thats the case you can always have a shop do a custom install to get it to go on good... if its the EM system then your gonna have to dish out and go with utec or EU if you really wanted that aps kit

I agree with you completely especially since the price drop this has to be the top kit out there. Smart idea putting money aside as well, the idea is to stay conservative for a while but still have the option to go more. I think this will deliver what I'm looking for.

Just to be clear the primary difference between the ST and TT (besides the extra turbo LOL) would be Lag and power potential.
