Stillen S/C stage 2

Just ordered my Supercharger but I have headers and testpipes on. The pipes are no big deal for me to remove before the install but all of you know how much of a bi@%# the headers are to get off. How much of an effect will this have on me as far at performance and engine safety? Do i really need to get rid of them or will the Cats provide enough back pressure for me? on that note, i guess in a couple weeks when ive got the kit installed i have testpipes/skunk2 spacer for sale.

from what I have read you will lose maybe a lb of boost, but you should check in with ttrank and a few others on this side who know alot more than me about this kit

Get rid of the headers. The Stillen SC is built to work with the stock headers.

if you keep the headers you will lose at least 1 pound of boost........but you will gain a little top end power.get rid of the them.

I can only imagine how loud that would be w/ headers & testpipes.

I left my headers on, too. Would just cost too much to get it taken off. The cats make a much more significant difference, from what I understand.

I know you already ordered the s/c, but might have been better for you to bought a ST or TT since you already have the headers and test pipes. Those would help make more power w/ a turbo setup.

That is not right because turbo,s use totally different manifols and do not use headers.

Seems we went through this once before and it was found that it's common mistake that lack of back pressure is something bad in boosted engines. Sure you will have more boost with the cats, but by removing one pound of back pressure and lowering manifold pressure by one pound is not a problem. You still get the same power out but with lower combustion pressures, therefore it's easier on the engine.

Tex, so you are saying that it will not be detrimental? if so, will i need another tune than the one provided by stillen? Seems that might alter my A/F ratio more than i might want
