Finally got the new turbo today and installed it along with the oil feed and return lines. And yes the turbo is a cheapy e-bay one from china. I tried to convince the owner to spend a little more and to get a Garrett but...lets see how long this thing lasts.

Again, VERY nice job! You built a setup similar to the Turbonetics. Its just too bad that the owner wont put out the extra cash and get a quality Garrett turbo, hopefully this one will last, and not blow the motor.

Change of plans it's gonna be twins.....DOMO

Just kidding

O.k got a good amount done today. Finished up the intercooler piping and intake.
I had some plate steel laying around and fabbed up the MAF flange.

This pipe is going from the turbo to intercooler.

And here is all of the piping finished and painted. I'm really not thrilled about the long pipe, but let see how it works. Would have been better off with the inlet and outlet on the same side to keep the piping shorter.

Top view.

Need to finish the down pipe and connect it to the cats. It will be a 3" down pipe that Y's into the cats.

i'm sure parts were not that $$. but the time to weld and fabricate would be very $$$$$$$. thats the thing, if you can fab and weld and cut stuff yourself, DIY turbo kits are the way to go. Your own labor doesnt cost your anything. YOu can save TONS of money. Sure I had problems with my SC self install, but saving ~1500$ was worth it. That paid for my suspension and new tires. I'm sure if this guy was going to build these kits for other people that keep posting about it, it wouldnt be any cheaper than a Turbonetics kit.

So true the hours put in to fabricate all the piping is quite a bit, in and out from under the car, but it has been a great learning experience. The good thing with a custom setup you don't have what everybody else has.
I would love to do another G but have a little more spending money to buy better parts.
