Becareful where you bend those a/c lines. Makes sure they are not touching anything, like belts, pulleys or anything sharp. I bent mine "out of the way" and it ended up costing me more to get one replace and recharged. Keep goin im interested to see how this all turns out.

Wow I'm amazed by all of the negative people here!!
It seems many of you are not really "Car People"
rather you're just young guys with big bank accounts.

This is my "self built" 240sx..

Total cost (including SR20DET Engine, Radiator, FMIC, Pipes, Downpipe, Exhaust, Turbo, BOV, Guages, Lines, Clutch, SAFC II, Engine Mounts, Electric Fans, New Belts, Misc crap etc.. ) $4000 and I used real parts.

Any of you guys paying $7,000 for a turbo kit need to seriously consider finding better ways to waste your money.

Look into the 240SX community, you will find (4 Cyl *Ka24DE*) cars with 600WHP on a home made kit for under $5,000 (including building the engine).

The problem is that I don't want to blow my 7k engine on a kit that isn't tuned and tested. That's why the aftermarket companies can charge 5k for their proven kits.

However, if this turbo install goes smooth...and easily repeatable, I'm sure others will follow if it is that much cheaper!

I think that the OP is doing a great job, and I hope it turns out well for him, and they make good power. But as far as "wasting" money on a 7k dollar turbo kit, that is money well spent. It may seem like alot, becuase you can make a kit for much less, but you are paying for a kit that has beed tested. With a home made kits you are the one doing the testing, you are the one who has to fix and eliminate the problem, you are the one who is at fault when you motor blows because of a bad connection or broken wastgate. For cars like your 240, a home made kit is perfect. Its cheaper, its more fun to build, but for cars like the G35 that are less than 5 years old there is no reason to try and make a kit, and blow a very expensive motor. Again, the OP is doing a great job, and I think he will do well with this kit, but if I was going to turbo my car I would just save the hassle of buying and testing parts, and spend the 7k for a turbo kit that has been tested and comes with a warranty.

You have valid points and by no means do I think anyone should use substandard parts on their G35. However, I feel that when I turbo-charge my G35 Coupe I will not be buying a kit, but rather building it myself.
And furthermore this is what most G35 owners who wish to Turbo-Charge should do if at all possible.

The weak point that I see with this setup is the substandard parts he is using. For example the Fake HKS SSQ BOV that is known to leak boost and what looks like a SSAC Turbo *known to blow in less then 1000 miles*.

Now if he were using quality parts he should be able to get a more reliable setup then even the expensive kits offer for half the price.

or just buy a used kit. A used kit will cost you half the price and at least you know the piping will all fit and has been tested to flow better. Also most people don't have access to a mandrel bender or access to a weld so most will have to pay someone to do all the trial and error on fitting those pipes. Most kit out there come with some good parts that are known to work and I won't buy no name parts from EBay since failing parts can lead to Engine blowing. As said before, there are more than just putting pipes together and TN learned that the hard way. They had to relocate the Wastegate pipe to eliminate overboosting.

oh, by the way I'm not yelling!!!!

TN was retarded in the first place for placing the wastegate 90 degrees on the exhaust pipe which is the worst possible way to bleed the exhaust through the wastegate. The OP wastegate placement is very good. The exhaust flows directly to the wastegate for optimal flow. but then that ebay replica wastegate bugs me. If i was the OP I would buy a used tial.

btw mandrel bends can be had on jcwhitney or the site the OP posted up http://store.racing-solutions.org/mildsteel1010.html .. it's very easy to cut using a band saw and i've used plastic pipes to mock up measurements. just saying.. it's not exactly rocket science to make your own kit.

Clean engine bay and nice swap.

Bump for the OP. I hope this goes well. I've heard a lot of talk about building a kit and a lot of people say it isn't worth it. Yeah it is nice to have name brand stuff but not everyone can afford it. Props to you!

But not everyone is also a Hardcore DIY kinda guy. I don't think some of the guys cheering here has half of the OP's talent.
