Well My FI Days Have Come To An End.....
The stock rods are weak. Forced induction increases stress and metal fatigue is cumulative. End result is failure - question is how long till failure. A good tune can minimize stress and prolong rod life. (And yes, on the other hand a poor tune can easily destroy even a built block). So yes, a good tune is necessary but not sufficient in and of itself to prevent a blown motor on VQ35DE motors. The HR is a different story. There's been enough data to recognize that FI on a stock VQ35DE is a gamble - any way you look at it. Build the block for the DE or buy a VHR engine if you want to play it safe with FI - otherwise expect and plan for a failure down the road.

Dam this is like the 20th time I read this thread and I can finally come to some hopefully encouraging words.... Don't let a blown motor change your mind for modding bro. I would say if it breaks build it better and stronger than before. FI is always a subject in my next mod list but when I see stories like this I second the thought with this could be me. It seems that you are to a point where you encoutnered a mishap but it's fixable. I'd say shell out the extra 1k and get a built block and be happy!
well I just found out today from my dealer that my car is still under powertrain warranty...I am taking it in to have them look at it either this evening or tomorrow to diagnosed what occured...my service advisor said that it was a rod that blew you would of heard knocking first...I said none of that occured...he said that it sounds like I may of had an Oil Pump Failure..that caused the engine to blow.

I wouldn't take the risk coz if they said the pump is good then they will charge you 10X more to get a new block + labor. Thinking about it, not selling because g35man04's problem, I want 500-600whp!!! I'm not worried about my car, don't want to sound stuck up but I went to GTM, they wouldn't release the car if it's not 100% perfect, no problems, I'm very confident. If i build my engine with the procharger, IMO I don't think I can hit 500whp +.
