Vortech setup question!

Hey guys. in the process of getting a v2 vortech kit and wanted to verify a few things. The kit I a buying is some what of a tuner kit as it does not come with EMS. I am getting the Utech. What it comes with is: The vortech v2 kit with intercooler stock pulley (3.12") all harware, fuel pump, and 380 injectors.
My goal is to reach around the 400 WHP mark. My question is:

1. will i be able to reach 400WHP with the 380 injectors or will i have to upgrade to 440? I am thinking i will be able to however i want to make sure otherwise i wont buy them ans save some $$$. BTW hey are denso inkectors if that makes a differance.

FYI- my supporting mods are: MREV2, 5/16 motordyne, test pipes, invidia duel cat back q300.

Should i reach my goal with all those supporting mods, Utech with a tune, and 380 injectors?

THANKS A TON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:biggth umpup:

i think you need the 2.87 pulley to get you into the higher psi, also the 380's wont do it, they migh but they would probably be working at max word load. i would suggest 500-550 to be safe.. but your supporting mods sound fine to me..

+1 go with at least 550cc so it gives u room to place down the road if u decide to upgrade to the 2.87 pulley. U will also need a walbro pump with this setup.

You will need bigger injectors so you don't starve the motor for fuel. You also want to grab the split second box as well as some sort of aftermarket EMU. The split second box will be your backup in case your EMU ***** the bed.

Just my thoughts . . .

1. Any reason you are getting the V-2 kit? The V-3 kit is nice in that you don't have to run oil lines as it has internal lubrication.

2. Injectors? Get at least 440cc.

3. Don't use the stock pulley. Get the 3.12 to start. This will give you 10psi. Remember, everytime you change something, you need a retune which can be expensive. So might as well do the smaller pulley from the get-go.

4. Fuel pump - Walbro

5. Plenum spacer - Get rid of it. These are good for NA, but once the manifold is under pressure, these tend to leak like a sieve.

6. Spark plugs - 1-step colder

7. 2.87 pulley - Not recommended on a stock motor.

The above mods will get you to about 400rwhp with a good tune.

I second not going with the 2.87 it's a crap shoot I tried it and now I am replacing my motor on a car with 24K. Good luck and take it to someone that has tuned VQ's you only get one chance with your stock block and the tuner is not going to be responsible and make sure you have a back up car cause it might take longer then you think . Im no noob when it comes to tuning and know how to do it, how it all works and what NOT to do. I also have a tuner already that does vq's all day. my last car was FI as well. Im just not sure about this car as i just bought it and im doing my R & D. Im going with utech for EMU, im getting 500cc injectors, and i may stick with the stock pulley just not to risk to much boost. I really dont want to blow the motor. with my supporting mods i should be able to get pretty close.... but well see. Now if the person im buying the SC from will respond back....

only the full kits comes with a fuel solution.

by the fact you said u r going to use 500cc injectors means all that is useless and you have to buy a walbro.

so would it be best to tap into the block or just get an oil pan spacer or a bigger oil pan that already has the plugs on it? (greddy / ARC) being that if the oil pan has more oil it also helps the engine and the V2 run better with a larger volume of oil..

sorryif i thread jacked but i just got my V2 kit.. 3.12 pulley... and 440 injectors.. aiming for 400whp or somewhere near it

do you know what size injectors you have? i've seen 2 other threads where you have said different size injectors and all of which don't exsist. I don't know anyone that makes 430's or 480's. Do you mean 440's?

stock pulley is 3.33"

generally around 7-9 psi WOT at redline. Boost pressure depends on the setup and each car. Different exhaust, intake, ect can change boost pressure.
