I went in to MNR and I'm getting a wire tuck done at the same time as I'm having the catch can installed. Seemed like a reasonable upgrade judging by what I've read... Had a bit of a tough time figuring out where to put it but it looks like they're going to take off a couple of redundant brackets near the rear passenger side of the engine block itself and tuck it in there- near where the tranny dipstick is. It's a Cusco brand can...
See...If you still lived in Victoria, a sheet metal guy could have made you one....Im really looking forward in seeing the wire tuck...that is really a great mod ! Post pics when you can....

Just ordered my beltronics STI-R Plus Radar Detector... stings a bit knowing I could get it in Alberta with 5% tax... here it's 12%. Gross.
And yes... I'll be happy to answer any questions you have- provided they are within my scope. Like... where is the fuel gauge and how many gears does a 5AT have.
See you!

Unsettling ticking?
Eh guys. Okay, maybe I'm just hypersensitive but I've noticed a rather rapid "ticking" noise around the front wheels... hard to identify the exact spot but maybe listening to it will help you guys identify that it's just "normal" or it's "not normal."
Seems to be equally apparent on both driver side and passenger side... it's very rapid- not like the sounds I've heard in videos pertaining to knock. Higher pitched too.
Anyway, see if you can gather anything from this (video):

Thanks for the input.
Meanwhile, I just had a catch can put in... a Cusco. Many people I've talked to in here were highly recommending I go that route- just as well that I did. It was affordable and I got a wire tuck done in the meantime to prepare for a harness cover I'm getting in the near future. Here are some photos:

Herr were you able to hear the video? Figure that's a reasonable shot?
I'm thinking I'll bring it down to MNR tomorrow just to be sure... the DWs may be letting me down but we'll see. I might add that there certainly hasn't been any fluctuations on my AFR gauge- then again I'm not dual band so one side might be struggling. Worth a shot.
I'm going to be sending that video sound clip to the shop to get their opinion as well. Another theory I've been having is that the cold air might be interfering with my timing somewhat? That's totally unsubstantiated but I've been wondering about it- whether or not that's the problem I still wonder if loading up all that cold air (4-8C) will have an impact on "things." Maybe I am learning a thing or two but we all know how damaging a LITTLE knowledge can be. Am I being oversensitive?
Thoughts?

By Sasha's advice over in 350z I bought a car stethoscope and poked around the fuel rails. Wow. Fuel injectors? No. Fuel injectors! Yes! They were chattering away like woodpeckers! I took a listen to the rest of the engine too- really quite remarkable to hear how things run. Listened to the plenum, coolant lines, turbo piping... Not always certain of exactly what I'm listening to but seems to me if something was wrong it would become evident very quickly.
I picked up one from lordco... They have two different ones- a cheaper one and a better one. So for 20 some bucks I got a the better one. I'm smh. It really was a good purchase!

Yea aftermarket fuel systems are noisy. Mine has the same sound except it is transmitted into the cabin. Same sound except coming from the dash!! Turns out because the fuel regulator is bolted to the firewall. Took me months to figure out WTF the noise was, quickly tracked down with the scope

Couple of quick updates. Did end up investing in a used poly kz bumper and impul sides. Getting pretty sick of that I'll fitting fg k2 (from strafe) and my original impul sides (also from strafe) were so badly disfigured and pushed out i've never been able to mount. I landed an authentic kz to replace the k2 and the impuls will finish off the look I was trying to achieve in the beginning.
Also- more turbo related I stumbled upon a good deal on a greddy turbo ti-c exhaust. Though as gord said the stillen is solid beyond my power range I was having slight issues with the fit of the exhaust around my md sways. When I had a couple of the parts welded because of substantial leaks causing rasp (long ago while still NA) it made the exhaust a bit less adaptable to "shaping" around the sways.
Nitrouz and the guys at z1 also had a few good points about restriction of my 2.5" tps. They explain that exhaust gases don't maintain their volume after leaving the engine and quickly cool. This means that there is benefit in going from larger test pipes to smaller diameter exhaust piping. Example: 3" tps down to 2.75" exhaust piping. Nitrouz said he had to trim a small bit of exhaust piping (I think the existing is designed to tie in to 2.5" tps) to accommodate bigger test pipes. So I'll plan on doing that.
I did some reading up on some deeper turbo related items at the aps website. To their credit they really do a nice job explaining the effects of back pressure as they apply to both sides of the turbo. Rob at z1 was also pretty helpful in getting me started on what to look into in terms of improving my existing setup and made some pretty impressive effort to get me squared away. Props to z1 for helping out the new guy!!

I guess the down pipes might be the difference, I have 3.5" that go down to 3" and the piping is fairly long. I cut a few inches off the Stillen 2.5" to make it all fit. I think the 3" almost goes to the tranny cross member.Like we spoke about in another thread, they are APS 3.5" down pipes mated to the JWT down pipe flanges and then a 3" section added in I bought these from XKR they were built by Forged I am not really sure why the 3" pipe was added in? He might have had a full custom exhaust because I know these are longer than a typical Downpipe/cat section so I had to Shorten my stillen exhaust to make it fit? The other thought was that he had a 350Z exhaust that is typically shorter than a G exhaust so they added 6" to the down pipes to make that up?
Here is showing it comes past the tranny cross member

Tight fit around the steering shaft so they notched the DP to clear.
