Seems unlikely that the VB is toast already, unless something was messed up during installation. And no I have never experienced shifting issues.

It wasn't toast from driving, since it did it from the first minute I drove my car with the upgraded VB it had to have been either the modding of the VB or it was damaged in shipping.

^^Or its possible that SGP scammed you with a crappy or non-existent VB job...Mark's fails are pretty evident in a scammer thread in my350z, and it incldues scams on auto tranny's...

That's why SGP went out of business...

I'm not stupid, I know SGP went under. Regardless, they fixed it even amidst all the scamming and it was doing the same thing someones's car is doing. Taking 4 seconds to engage into 2nd gear is not normal some there is something wrong.

my 1-2 shift seems to lag after going FI... it was pretty quick before. I also have the transgo shift kit and we upped my line pressure.

Something often overlooked by tuners on 5AT's is the calculated load. If going to larger injectors than stock and the calculated load is left unchanged or not adjusted properly you'll get laggy shifts, and eventually a shortened trans life. It's often overlooked because the calculated load MAP is not important in 6MT's (which is the bulk of what tuners deal with), so changing it is 9 times out of 10 unnecessary.

Another issue is I don't think Haltech or other standalones can intercept the calc. load output (which ends up on the CAN bus) so without an uprev flash you'll end up with the same issue...

do you have a link where I could check out some info on calculated load map? thats interesting. we just got my hot start issues fixed by scaling the cranking enrichment maps for my 725cc injectors.

It's stated pretty clearly in the Uprev manual. They also released a new ROM about a week ago that exposes 3 more startup maps which are supposed to help with hot starts. Apparently the ECU puts out a way bigger pulse width during cranking than the logs indicated, which led them to discover more maps. I haven't had a chance to play with it yet.

I've put out a couple of the remarks in here out to both MNR and Intec- specifically about the loading and the hot start issues I'm positive a few of the guys in WA are also having with uprev.

Thanks again for the contributions... maybe the thread isn't dead afterall!

You were told catch cans and cams are problematic I have never read that about either . I can't beleave anyone would build an engine without cams Catch cans are a small investment and they help keep oil out of your intake. Cams well help the engine breath more efficiently stock cams are good but will require more boost to make the same power as an engine with mild cams. Jim Wolf S1 cams should be a minimum requirement when building an engine for boost.

Never read catch cans were problematic as much as just not necessary on healthy engines- though now specifically to me I'm reading that I should go that route. Cam problems I think were mostly resolved through a good tune... But it sounded mostly like idling issues but in thinking about what I said I'm not 100% sure whether or not the guys writing about the issues were tuned adequately or not.

But then if you go ahead and do a cam upgrade do you have to do valves and springs too? With the port and polish, of course.

Geez- you had 30 pages to tell me

Might make it an upgrade for next year. I only have a couple months of driving left.

S1 cams idle like stock, port/ polish oversize valves are not really necessary our heads flow very good in stock form and people have made 650whp with stock cams and heads it just takes a lot of boost to do it. I always say if you are building an engine you should do cams at that time, it is all apart anyway. Cams and springs can be done for $1,500 or less you had 30 pages to ask me and if I look back at our PMs I will bet I told you while building the engine is the time to do cams although they are not nessasary to hit your goals.....I would have done them now and did brakes Or the LSD next year
