No sense having the polished plenum if I were to cover it all up. Got to show it off a bit!

I do like the other one though- I think I'll be investing in CF caps as well.I saw some nice applique CF "somewhere" and it got my attention. I'm still hovering on CF being a bit too trendy at this point but hey, I like what I like!

Get a nice clean theme going on in there without too much glam. I'm starting to price out my 2nd and 3rd upgrade phases and I've got a really keen interest in that Cosworth plenum and I just stumbled into a Karuma Z in marketplace for 400 bucks plus shipping and some TLC / prime / paint.

The Cosworth was a topic of discussion recently- can't remember if it was here or 350z and I did quite a bit of research on it. I wouldn't invest in it for an NA car but it certainly seems to shine in FI applications. I have to admit, I like the first version with the CF sides and I'm starting to see them in the marketplace but still sitting around 1500 bucks. Got some bills to pay before that happens.

I looked at the top secret bumper as well and quite frankly I'm starting to get a sense that I like the OEM grille as opposed to the mesh. We'll see... perhaps that's just a passing fancy but functionally I think you're right about the KZ being the most functional bumper (alongside the TS bumper) for the IC I have with this kit.

Dash and Sasha both really got my attention with the vertical IC as well and I have my doubts that it'd fit behind the K2... Again... that's probably a phase 3 update I would consider next year / later this year with a Cosworth plenum addition and a touch up tune. Phase 2 is the Qaife LSD and the monster tune once it gets broken in a bit.

Nope you nailed it... I wanted the half cover like the one from the 350Z... like the second one you had the photo of. I wouldn't go with the G35 full cover...

Swivel got one on his and it looked pretty slick... especially once he sorted out the fan issue. He's a sedan though- I don't think I'd have the same problem especially with the slim fans and rad.

Swivel has the early 03 sedan that has a clutch style fan all coupes and later sedans have electric fans. You have nothing to worry about there.

So what this now, you bought or are buying a KZ bumper?

You should have just bought my car and it would have been a good start.

Build looks good though. What you have done in one year takes most people 2 or 3.

Was wondering when you were going to chime in red. I didn't go the kz route yet but I've been thinking about it after reading about the vertical ic. What can I say- your car looks awesome anyway!

The heads got put on yesterday Or the day before. The shop indicated they're taking some time to make sure things are cleaned and assembled just right so it's taking a bit longer than they'd originally predicted. I'll get a better update tomorrow as the guy who has been talking to me mostly was away for a few days.

I've put July 1st weekend down for pickup and I think that's reasonable. I know they have a 350z stroker kit behind mine for a rebuild as well so I suspect they'll want to get cracking on that sooner than later.

Big update tomorrow I hope!

Oh and badger this may not be the best place to look for technical advice but you're not far away. You might see the mods move your post into the actual forced induction section. The area is loaded with savvy people who want to help- but it'll get more attention out there.

The motor is still out of the car? Consider yourself lucky if you get it back this summer. There are so many details that require attention... Before they drive it, make sure you have them triple check the ATF level per the FSM procedure (print it out or e-mail it to them). Quickest way to burn out a built trans is to run it 2 qts low.

I hear what you're saying Dash and I'll make sure that I pass on the information though I'm confident they're on top of it. I think judging by what I've been reading that a ATF temp gauge is a critical addition to the car... That message has been resoundingly clear. I'm going to look into those details and see what we can drum up. I noticed there were a couple of different spots the sensor can be located... I'll find it eventually but it seems there was one area that it was better off than others. If you don't mind reposting it in here that'd be great. If I find it I'll do the same.

I'm confident I'll have the car back from the base build in the next couple of weeks. I know they're committed to it and though there have been setbacks (including one of the guys doing the work breaking his wrist!) and a lot of time delays on different parts... not to mention some waiting on me to get money forwarded when it came time to order many of those parts) I think I'll be driving it in July.

The ATF level on our cars is not straightforward to read - car's gotta be running - there's min and max marks, but also cold and hot marks (temp dependent), the dipstick needs to be inserted in reverse to read correctly, and to top it off, fresh ATF is so transparent it is very difficult to see on the stick. I have the FSM procedure memorized having done a drain/fill several times and it still takes considerable effort to get a definitive reading - quite annoying actually. The good part is once you have it set, you should never have to check it again since unlike motor oil, there are no escape paths for it. Actually the first time around the clutch packs may absorb some fluid unless they were presoaked. Another reason to be paranoid...

Eh Dash... Thanks again for the words. Still hunting for the thread about where to put the actual sensor for the ATF oil- seemed there were a couple places but one was better than the others... something to do with a problem with one location scanning temps from fluid straight out of the torque converter or to that effect.

Also talked to the shop last night and I thought we were going to be sitting pretty for the 2nd of July or so but as Dash predicted it's going to be a bit longer. One of the main guys there has a busted hand / wrist and isn't able to jump in the way he might usually so I get it. They're also being necessarily meticulous... and in their words "Now isn't the time to start hurrying." The brakes arrived yesterday, the ceramic parts are at the shop- just a matter of putting it together properly! I'm now hoping for my NEXT set of days off- which will be about 3 weeks from now.

Hopefully I'll have some more pics soon. Forgetting what the car looks like...

Just put the temp sensor in line with the outgoing 3/8" hose coming OUT of the ATF cooler (this should be connected to the 5AT hard line that is closest to the DRIVER's side).

Eh guys. Well I was off the radar a bit over the past couple weeks. There were a few things going on but not too many pics were coming in for me to post-

The engine is back together again and the turbos are being mounted. Judging by these pics at least one is mounted- I know the whole thing is really starting to move now. A couple of little setbacks, but overall I think things are coming together at an expected rate. It's slow... it feels really slow to me but I get it: When I'm able to do this kind of work I'll be more critical- as it is right now... I just want them to do it right. BELIEVE me... I want them to do it right and not being able to turn around and say to me "sorry your engine blew up but you were nagging us to get it done and this happened."

So- suffice to say... no nagging. Okay, well maybe a tiny bit of "is it in yet? Is it in yet?" but I'm doing my best. I know what it sounds like... suffice to say the anticipation is almost the same.

My HFCs sold and the test pipes should be there by now (I was told thursday) for when things are ready to finish off. Mike, their installation specialist, is in the groove and working hard on getting things done. This is reassuring to hear because from having watched him work and talked to him at length before when he gets into it... he's into it.

I noticed in a couple of the photos the Pathfinder cooling upgrade is on, and of course the polished TC looks great. I see ceramic coated manifolds onboard as well and the fuel system is finding its way on. If you're wondering what the box is in the one photo- it's the DW 850cc injectors... These will be amply fed by the DW300 lph pump and the RFS from Dustin. You guys all advised me not to skimp on fuel... I didn't skimp on fuel. Speaking of which- I still have Gord's 680 high impedence injectors... if anyone happens to be looking.

I just paid off some debts so now I'm on the prowl for the quaife and I have my sights on the 100 cell mil.spec cats that can be welded in further downstream on the exhaust. I want to see how bad the exhaust is first- I'm hearing different stories with different setups... like many things it seems to vary on a build to build basis.

Anyway- on to the photos. More coming soon! (I hope)

This thread can't be all about me just bragging about things going right... Occasionally I have to help some folks learn a thing or two- especially if you're installing the 700BB kit into a G35.

Anyway, one of the things that was mentioned to me during the reinstallation is that when you go do actually install turbos, the motor mount needs to be trimmed down a bit so that the turbo will fit properly. I'm not sure if both are inhibited the same way- maybe someone can chime in to that effect.

Unfortunately, this is one more thing that Progressive didn't do and as a result when they torqued up the studs that hold in the trubo they actually bent the actuator bracket. Mike at Intec got this sorted out and I'm told that things are snug as a bug now!
