FI: we're not in Kansas anymore...
Good to hear the car is alive. It will be nice to see this thing when it is all broken in and tuned up.

I've been doing my reading and everything I'm seeing is suggesting the Quaife... What I'm being told by the shop (who deals with both) is that while both make some noise- the Quaife is more noticeable than the Tomei. We're going to continue looking into it but from what I'm reading and from the suggestions in here- Quaife is definitely looking like the choice.
Also, it was said that while the Tomei may need to be "rebuilt" occasionally, the Quaife would need more maintenance. Again, not what I'm reading (basically same maintenance schedule as stock) but you know what they say about reading on the internet... believe everything you read, and you better not read.
It's tough too- you get a guy who spends 1400 bucks on the automatic version of the quaife and ask him if he loves it... well, of course he's going to love it... that's a lot of money plus install unless he does it himself. A small percentage of people will go in and say "yes, I totally wasted my money-" at least not until the next best thing comes around. "Yes, what I'm using now rules and what I was using sucked."
Objectivity seems to be inversely proportionate to the amount of money and time spent.
I also talked to them about my issues around the fluttering throttle and they said there's a good chance it is just that gasket is kaput. I'll replace that when I get back to Van and see where it goes from there.
In addition- wanted to try posting some photos!

Eh guys... well here is a couple photos of my current issue. This is the location of our fuel pump under the passenger side rear seat. As you can see there is a pretty substantial stain from leaking fuel under there and some moisture (fuel) on the top of the fuel pump. Looks like badness to me!
Anyway, turns out the part I need is 7 bucks from Nissan (notice the X next to the O ring? Yeah, that one)- maybe a bit more. Looks like a quick fix judging by the FSM.
Any tips or tricks with the install / removal?

I'm going to run it a bit more when I get back out there so that I can actually visuallize what's going on back there- and ensure it's the gasket (which I'm going to replace anyway).
I'm 99% sure it's the O-ring but to be honest I didn't have a lot of time before I left to mess around. Well, not with the fuel system anyway! Priorities.

Okay boys- well true to form I have done some research, got loads of feedback and have pulled the trigger on the Quaife. I'm on that Vancouver Island Poker Run on the 20th so I'm going to hope to get it done before then. With that being said, the car isn't exactly limping around either (well, other than that stupid O ring thing) so I'm sure I can survive without it. Then again, I figured I might be able to survive without going FI and we all know how that ended up.
So thank you again for the feedback and the IMs. I think we've made the right decision!
