I wonder if my new torque converter or built tranny is just delivering forces is a way that the system is resisting. I never checked out your mod list- not sure if you're running stock parts?
My tuner hasn't done a lot of fully built ats before either- I don't thinktoo many people have with uprev... Maybe there's a subtle work around that he missed. Sounds like from what they're saying uprev has indicated it's something they're working on... So that tells me that the work around they've provided (pulling the vdc fuse) is all she wrote.
I was reading in niclub that they someone did a built 350z and got more tq without problems... so I'm running out of ideas but I'm thinking that new tc might be contributing.

Sounds like you're overheating your transmission fluid which will cause the exact symptom -- christmas tree on the dash and failsafe. If the load scaler table isn't set correctly when tuning for F/I on uprev, your TC will never fully lock up and that explains why you're constantly overheating the fluid when getting on it. Hopefully you haven't already toasted your 5AT...
And I'm pretty sure only Consult will pull these kind of codes as they aren't in the ECU -- so generic code readers won't catch them. In addition to the standard ECU codes, there's ABS, BCM and TCM codes which are completely separate. I know Uprev will pull BCM and ABS codes but not TCM (transmission) codes.

The Christmas tree on the dash comes from having the fuse missing- so I can't tell if that's what's happening or not. To be quite honest, with the driving I'm doing- it's pretty light... and I had a tranny cooler put on when I did my transgo-
Granted, sometimes I lean into it but it's by no means even spirited. With that being said- it makes a point about getting a fricken ATF temp gauge put in stat. I'm heading over to Racing Greed tomorrow to talk to "the boys" and see what's up- maybe we can sort something out. I know my AFR gauge is going the way of old yeller anyway what with the boost controller going in... so the ATF gauge will slide right in there! Nice.
I'm 1100kms on my engine so far- and I know it's 1000 mile break in so I'm getting pretty close to being able to open things up a little... but with this shutting down issue it's a lot less fun. I tried some time in my power map and that open dif really kills my buzz... and judging by what I'm now reading about the S-Drive tires that's not helping in the back.
Otherwise things remain good / great. Except for that shutdown issue all is as I expect. Driving the car around- if I didn't know any better- I'd think it was NA and totally normal while doing my every day routine. There's that bit of a grumble at about 2800rpm in any gear under a certain load that is a bit annoying... I'm not sure if I can blame the TP for that- sure feels like it's happening in the D side TP... I wanted to get an exhaust shop to take a look at it the other day but they were worried about how low I was. I'm low, granted- but not slammed out or anything. Ah well, perhaps tomorrow things will become more clear.
Had some dude in a OP (white I think) G pulled up behind me in the parking lot but then he took off as I was coming to the car. Kind of weird.
Anyway... I think I'm going to carry on with my quest for quaife- anyone get any leads on one I'd love to know.

If that question was for me, my transmission is basically stock with the exception of the Transgo VB upgrade.

Yeah, that was for you... just trying to figure out why, when I have the whole VDC disconnected, that I'm still going into limp mode.
Unless of course it IS in fact the ATF overheating...

Trans fluid should not go down that much with new clutch packs. Thier required to be pre-soaked before installation. I recently rebuilt my trans with all new Alto Red Eagle Clutch Packs and after soaking thier was less that 200 ML of fluid not recovered.
By christmas tree I simply meant SLIP + VDC and limp mode. This is the exact behavior of ATF overheating.
If you have a basic datalogger, check the load % while getting on the throttle. If it doesn't hit 100% at 50%+ throttle, the TC isn't locking up and you're cooking the ATF. If the tuner left the load tables stock (and this is VERY common since the load tables are unused on 6MT and not well documented), the load, which is based on injector IDC, will never hit 100% due to your larger injectors and your 5AT will eventually be destroyed since it 'thinks' the engine is putting out way less TQ than it really is.

^ good point but I would hope a UpRev authorized pro tuner would have read the fine print regarding tuning on 5ATs. Ian you should seriously consider getting a Cipher cable at least so you can check diagnostics including parameters like calculated load. I think if you've paid for a UpRev license now for your flash tune, you can actually pick up Osiris tuner at a discount (which includes Cipher). Might want to check...

Went over to monkey nuts racing and talked to some of their guys. They pulled a generic pending code indicating cylinder 5 misfire. They said they'd need to actually drive it to feel what was going on...
They looked at the tranny cooler and said it was pretty small and the hoses were the stock hoses- they wanted to see at least dash 6 for use though it requires some boring out of the original openings on most coolers.
It was a pretty quick meeting but a chance to get a feel for the place and I felt good there. As was mentioned to me about those guys, they didn't talk over me and were definitely not clicky or snobbish about my lack of knowledge.
So they're going to do some work for me on wed / thurs and we will take it from there!
I'm 1100 clicks into my break in so far.
The packs were soaked for a few days before installed- so things should be good there. Fluid levels are good so far but that new pan sounds like a good idea.
I do definitely have my ear to the ground on the cipher cable too. Knowing There's a discount is a nice treat

3/8" hose is fine for ATF - it is thin compared to motor oil and the pressure is high from the pump - it circulates fast. A cooler for a built 5AT needs to be in the range of 11 x 11 x 1.5"

Thanks Dash... I'm passing that on over in 350Z too- there's another guy (resmarted) looking into the cooler also.
This guy over at MN racing had some luck with increasing the hose diameter with at leat one other AT vehicle recently so just removes all doubt and goes to the dash 6...
Do you have that larger Titan ATF pan as well Dash? Resmarted had recommended it and said as long as you weren't totally slammed you wouldn't have trouble running it. I know I'm nowhere near slammed- though I am low...
Problem is you have to dump all your existing fluid to put on the tray... so I'm curious what with the new tranny if I should be flushing the fluid anyway after a thousand miles as well? If that were the case, for the 200 bucks I think the new deeper tray might be a good idea.
Thoughts?
Also, that rattle / rumble I'm getting at 2800-3000rpm in any gear... I've had it since the start... I started wondering if perhaps it might be the TC starting to lock in? It sort of sounds like something from the exhaust vibrating- but the more I thought about it the more I figured it might be the TC. Would that be a common thing or is the TC generally silent?

My TC is silent and has no vibration. I do not have the larger ATF pan. The 5AT already holds 10 qts and with a larger cooler, 11 easy. I do not see the value and it would be a very messy job to dry out all the ATF and then get the old gasket material off, reapply, put on new pan and hope it doesn't leak. On the plus side, it would allow you to look at the pan contents and see if there's been any damage to date (clutch pack material will settle to the bottom of the pan).
By the way, I think -6AN is exactly the same size as 3/8" hose so I don't think it's any improvement.
