Turbo build for 2005 6mt...SpecialtyZ & FCS Fab
I thought I would create a thread for my turbo build currently taking place. First off I'm working with 2 shops: SpecialtyZ and FCS FAB both in S. California. The turbo kit has previously been on this forum. It yielded 365rwhp on 6 psi when it was originally installed. The owner then proceeded to crank it up to 12.5 psi @ ~450rwhp for a duration of a month or two, consistently running high boost until- It blew! (who would've thought ). The kit was originally fabricated at FCS FAB, and was tuned at SpecialtyZ. Deja Vu
I currently have a 2005 G35 6mt Coupe with 92k well maintained miles.
Current Mods: Stillen Dual CBE, Kinetix V+ Plenum, Osiris standard, Top Speed TP's (terrible rasp).
I purchased from original owner: DC Headers, SPA 5000 Turbo (on the small side), Spearco FMIC, RC 440cc injectors & clips/rail, SPA 38mm Waste gate, HKS SSQv Bov, and original piping to his 2004 G35- for $1650. All items passed visual inspection from SpecialtyZ & FCS Fab.
Problem #1: Previous owner had single 3" exhaust. Downpipe is not compatible.
Solution: Piping Fab (FCS Fab).
Problem #2: Previous owner had NO A/C. Piping does not fit around my A/C
Solution: Piping Fab (FCS Fab).
Problem #3: Previous owner had mesh vent on Turbo inlet. No Intake filter.
Solution: Piping Fab & Filter (FCS Fab).
Problem #4: (Unrelated) I have a bad rear wheel bearing.
Solution: New bearing install (Specialty Z).
SpecialtyZ has completed installation of all items except for piping around the A/C, and piping for DP. I also had to purchase a manifold spacer to accommodate injectors and Aeromotive 340 Fuel pump (SpecialtyZ).
Jason from FCS Fab picked up my G today to bring to his shop to finish install (luckily he used a trailer and is only 5-10 minutes from Specialty Z). FCS Fab will now continue the rest of fabrication and install as noted. After completion, my G will be trailer-ed back to SpecialtyZ for Dyno tuning with my current software Osiris Standard.
Background Info: My G was Dyno Tuned just 2 months ago at Specialty Z and with STILLEN CBE, KINETIX V+, Z-TUBE/DROP-IN K&N produced 265whp/237wtq- up 17whp/7wtq from E-tune (see my thread).
I trust Sebastian & Jason (SpecialtyZ & FCS Fab) getting my G boosted with quality work.
Progress.....

I don't know much about cars so forgive me- but aren't you a bit concerned about buying a kit from a guy who abused it for 2 months and blew a motor because of it- with no air filter... A 340 fuel pump for 370hp? And 440 injectors?
Anything on target for a clutch upgrade at all? Wheels / tires?
Or are you just going to slap the turbo in there and go for it?
Not meaning to be sarcastic but... It really looks a little rough around the edges.

Yes the original abuser absolutely abused his car, but that doesn't mean that the turbo is shot by any means- although his engine is. But you are correct, there is some risk involved.
My tires are upgraded width's of 245/35/19 & 255/35/19 on Hankook Ventus, utilizing the OEM wheels. I also plan do do some minor brake upgrades in the near future.
And finally no, I don't believe that I'm slapping anything, anywhere. This is a proven setup, with proven programming, and durability will be a test of time like anything else. I'm not 18, and this isn't my first rodeo with turbo upgrading. However, I'm no expert- I leave the expertise to the experts. Thanks for the questions.

He should be fine, as long as he doesnt get to power happy on the factory block it should be good i would only be concerned with the turbo being damaged from previous use without a filter, its fine on a track but on the street theres just to much crap that can get in there. Previous owner probably blew because he upped the boost to push 450 hp which is already proven not safe territory on a factory block and blew it, so to say the least im not surprised if the OP pushes maybe 8psi he should be around the magic 400whp # which should be safe.
