i was losing 3-4 quarts every 3000 miles in my 05 rev coupe which was around 59,000... it was a recall ended up getting a new engine block under warranty.I needed to do a oil cumsuption test thru the dealership.... now have 120,000 on it and runs like a baby. modded 319 whp 287trq NA all motor..

120K on the new motor?
Did you get short or long block?

i got a stock rev engine under warranty.. that was at 59000, but now i have 120000 on the odometer,, so tech. i only have 60000 on the new motor. thats why my gains were so good after my modds and reflash... its pretty quick for being NA

stock rev engine block... but pretty much thats a new engine

I hate the dipsticks on these cars. Any alterations or other dipsticks that work better?

i wonder if its normal to loose 1.5 quarts every 5k miles for an automatic 05

The industry standard (American) used to be one quart in 800 miles. I wouldn't think 1.5 qt in 5000 would be considered excessive.

Tex is right. My '06 X uses about the same, especially if I push my foot into the throttle body.

I think the key phrase there is "used to be." Never seen people reporting newer cars to be burning so much oil.

I agree with you, but 1.5 qt/1000 miles is not "excessive". Mine has 107k now and it uses 1/2 to 3/4 qt in 7.5k.

wow this is crazy...i just noticed the same problems about 2 weeks back...smoking, weird noises, changed the oil noises went away...but stupid dipstick reading is so confusing....once i finally got the accurate reading i was low on oil and its been 1000 miles since last oil change....this sucks!

usually burn about 1qt every 3000mi with my x, though i am a lead foot

mine is still at full for 1k miles since i changed the oil now.
