0-60 in 6.2 seconds isn't too bad if:
- there are two people in the car (which it sounds like there are)
- the car wasn't brake stalled on the launch
- 2nd gear isn't held
At the track, I brake stall for about 1 second. This results in consistent 14.3-14.4s. If I don't brake stall and just launch off idle, the car is about .25-.30 seconds slower (high 14.6s). A 14.3-14.4 is a ~5.8 0-60. A 14.6 is a ~6.1 0-60. I also hold 2nd to approximately 6400rpms then shift up which results in a 2-3 shift at an idicated ~6700rpms which occurs at ~61-62mph and not 57-58mph. If you leave the tranny to do it's own thing on the 2-3 and 3-4 shift, you'll be a lot slower. In D, the 3-4 shift occurs at a weak sauce 92mph or so. I hold 3rd to 6400rpms and then upshift. This results in a 3-4 shift just at the finish of the 1/4 mile or at ~101mph.
Manual shifting and a brake stalling are the keys to getting the 5at to perform.
