Cool, I'll give the M1-105 one a shot. I wasn't able to track down the Castrol Syntec 0w30 Euro motor oil so I'll probably just go with Castrol Syntec 5w30 for this oil change.

I'll think ahead next time and have some Amsoil or the Syntec 0w30 on-hand before it's time to do the oil.

Bringing this thread back from the dead.

I want to use a larger filter myself, since I'm running on synthetic and thus have a bit longer change interval. My concern with using a filter not specified by the manual is that the operating pressures aren't within range of the larger filter.

I mean what happens if the normal operating oil pressure on the G is so high, that it's constantly above the bypass valve of the larger filter? If that's the case, then no filtering will occur since it's constantly being bypassed.

not sure if this helps but oil pressures are as follows

05 g35
idle - 100 kPa minimum
2k rpm - 290 kPa minimum

98 maxima (which was a larger filter and 3.0 VQ30DE engine)
idle - 69 kPa minimum
3k rpm - 435-551 kPa

05 qx56 (larger filter, 5.6L v-8 VK56DE engine)
idle - 98 kPa minimum
2k rpm - 298 kPa minimum

I think i'll give the qx56 filter a shot before the maxima

The Maxima & QX56 use the same filter. 15208-9E000 is the part #.

That helps a lot!

Anyone else has input on this?

I am hearing a lot that the 15208-9E000 is the best filter to use with the VQ35 motor. Good thing I stocked up on them when I had a VQ30 in my last 2 maximas.
