Yes. It is gonna be replaced under warranty. The power train warranty is up to 70000 miles or 6 years whichever comes first. I am still under warranty.
Anyway can you comment on the warranty that I should get for the new engine?

Well you have a 2005, so it should be near the 6 year mark.

You don't actually get a new motor. You get a new short block.

My replacement follows the factory powertrain warranty. Still has a decent amount left, being I also bought extended when new. Infiniti will not be kicking me to the curb anytime soon with mine. My extended is 7yr/100K.

I had my engine replaced at around 30k on my 2006. I was told to NOT use synthetic oil until after 20k on the new engine. This is for the piston rings to seat correctly. Then I can use syn. But what is funny is the dealership put syn/conv blend in. I first noticed my oil consumption problem when I tried Mobil 1. I made it 1000 miles before it was ALL gone. Not one drop came out. I was freaking out. But now I try to use conv oil. I used royal purple last time and it just isnt holding up very well.

Didn't the oil pressure (idiot) light ever come on? If the oil was going through your engine that fast you should have been trailing a blue fog behind you.

Funny thing is, no smoke- but you could smell it burning that's for sure.

What caught my attention the first time prior to the oil pressure light turning on was the fact I could hear the 'chatter' coming from the engine bay.. pulled the dipstick and voila- little to no oil. (you can imagine the look on my face when that happened the second time around!...)
Only time that oil pressure light came on was the first time I had to replace the motor, after the first time I replaced it, I kept close watch.

Now on my third motor and 10k later, I'm so far so good thankfully

edit: When I received my first (and second) new motor, they were brand new, not refurbished, replaced both under warranty. The first time I had it replaced was at 30k (bought the car with 22k on it) and the second time was at 50k. I broke the motors in both nice and easy. However the second motor I had (the one replaced at 30k) was said to have failed because of scoring of the piston rings, which I found funny since it's what they said happened the first time as well. Oh well, since then I've changed up a few things so who knows. I am so far so good.

Thankfully my good friend is the service manager of Infiniti here and I know all the sales people there very very well so they take great care of me. On the third motor and in just shy over 2 years, can't say I'm complaining since I didn't pay a dime- just had to drive a loaner car for a while.

I got the replacement short block because of OC issues 21 months ago. My last oil change 3 months ago I switched to Mobile 1 because I was told not to use synthetic for awhile like others have said. I checked the oil level 2 days ago because my oil light came on when I braked hard and there was no oil, absolutely none, registering on the dip stick. I put it 2 quarts and it's barely registering on the dip stick, if at all, hard to tell for sure. I was about to change the oil anyway. If I switch back to not synthetic will it help or am I screwed now??? Odometer says about 56,000 miles but I have about 18,000 on this motor.
