On my 3.5 Altima I just live with it. It is quite annoying, but it way out of warranty. It's been about 1qt every 1500 miles. My OCI is 6-7K so that's almost a whole M1 jug... jeez. It seemed to consume more after using syn but it could be coincidence.

My G is on dino, and doesn't use much between changes. OCI is 3K.

I had my engine replaced and so far the best oil I have used with smooth sounds, no burning, no funky smells is castrol syn blend. Mobil 1 continues to burn much faster than any other. The dealership in Greensboro used Valvoline blend in it when it was brand new then I read paperwork and it said conventional only for like 15k to 20k. So who knows. For some reason it seems no one can get $hit straight anymore.

Be aware that different brands of oil will evporate at different rates. Check the test results published by Amsoil and see if the oil you're using is just evaporating. It might not be totally your engine's fault unless it's running hot.

Yes the dealership in Greensboro, NC, forgot to put a bolt back in the flywheel and left two bolts with their heads about 1/8 of an inch sticking out of the flywheel...Took my car to my neighbors shop (he owns transmissions america) and he found it, we took pics, I live in Roanoke, VA, (2 hrs from greensboro) had to pay $300 to get my car towed to the dealership, they said the other guys did it, when I told them he was neighbor and I was under the car and helping them pull it out and I am the one whom spotted it and they were the only guys in my tranny before, they denied it again. I filed a complaint with the FTC, BBB, then got my complaint numbers and called Infiniti Consumer Affairs

Placed my Complaint today, including the tricks used by the dealers to obstruct any bad findings!!!!
Hope it will work.
In addition I added an oil Collector between the PCV and the intake.
Next week I will be adding one on the other half of the engine.
Hope with this to have evidence where the oil is going and how much !
Also as I described in my previous update I added 1/4 of a quart of 10W40 Castrol GTS High mileage and Lucas oil stabilizer in hope to reduce oil burning and Converter damage.
There were unexpected imediate results from the oil additives. The Acceleration and smoothness of the engine increased significantly !!!!

Oil Separator intermediate report.
Imediately after installing the first Oil Separator between the PCV Valve and intake, I noticed that the Vacuum, even during Idle is powerfull, it squized the two hoses to death !
I will change the hoses to thicker ones, but with this vacuum being so strong, its no wonder any oil is left in the engine !!! Remember that the passanger side valve cover is connected directly to the intake manifold without any PCV VALVE, so it must suck very hard !!!, any questions !!!

will infiniti give you a new motor if you fail the OC test even if your factory warranty ran out on your car??

no, keep an eye on your oil and top it off, all you can do or replace it on your dime

Be careful with this issue and aftermarket warranties. I have came across a few that wont cover motor replacement due to oil consumption issues with client I had in the past.

My claim with consumption was also just declined. I learned Nissan and Infiniti dealers sell Quality guard aftermarket warranty on their used cars. They will not cover most the common problems by using their warranty that says They dont specify parts since they cover so much they will tell you whats not covered. Then make a vague few paragraphs whats not covered to use to their advantage to tie in most parts to not being covered. Just warning my fellow Infiniti drivers of this warranty.

g35 engine knocking?

Started up the G this past Saturday after sitting about a week. It made some real loud knocking-type noises at startup and later subsided down to this (video). I just want to make sure I'm not being paranoid and this is not the knocking sound of a engine with an OC issue. At 1st, I thought they could be the belts, but as I listened, I could hear the belts alone. This sound was something else. I've gotten the OC test done twice and of course, I pass with no issues found. Please check out the vid below and chime in please. Let me know your thoughts.
