Gas Gauge WEIRDNESS !
mine is the opposite...I have an 04 auto coupe and ill turn the car on and it might be at 1/2 tank but as im driving it goes up lol...but I always get a full tank (up to the F) and sometimes a little higher than the F.
I think the sending units can just go bad, or get fouled. When this happens they send signals that are out of specs and indicate gas levels that can be greatly different than what's really in the tank.
I may be way off, but it would seem to me that when this happens, the fuel gauge could indicate pretty much anything (i.e. less than what is in there or possibly more).

2003-2004 INIFNITI G35 COUPE/SEDAN, 2003-2004 INFINITI FX35, 2003-2006 INFINITI FX45; VOLUNTARY RECALL CAMPAIGN FUEL HOSES
Infiniti has determined that some 2003–2004 model year Infiniti G35 sedan/coupe vehicles and 2003-2006 model year Infiniti FX35/45 vehicles may have a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety. There is the possibility that the fuel filler hose may crack and result in fuel leakage from the hose while refueling. If an ignition source is present, a fire could occur. In addition, fuel vapor hoses may crack and cause the malfunction indicator lamp to come on. To prevent this condition from occurring, Infiniti is conducting a Voluntary Safety Recall Campaign to replace the fuel filler and vapor hoses with new ones.

thanks
A little variation in the gas gauge is normal. The car estimates for aggressive driving and will tell you how much gas you potentially have left. Thus, the gas gauge seems more like a "miles remaining" gauge.
i always fill my fuel tank to FULL it is about 70ltrs full tank - i can see petrol coming out almost of fuel filler hole i know its of course full.
however the fuel needle never ever goes ALL the way to F. it sits a bit under. is this normal?
